gus6464
What's the Ledil optic that comes with adhesive to attach to the BXRA? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
http://www.newark.com/ledil/ca11183-brooke-w/led-reflector-brooke-wide-25-polycarbonate/dp/78R7761?Ntt=CA11183 I'm not sure if it comes with adhesive to attach but this is the one that doesn't require a Molex. I believe the Minnies for the Luxeon M's come with adhesive already on them but don't hold me to that. Link to comment

Is there a wider optic available for these BXRA in the 60-70deg range that doesn't require molex? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I don't think so, I know Ledil makes one that fits the ES chips called the Lenina but that's still only a 54° Link to comment

CrazyEyes
I really didn't want the P/S and LDD boards in the enclosure but I didn't want to see any wires so I mounted the LDD boards and P/S on this small piece of wood then fastened it to the inside of the stand. There will be another piece of wood covering it to prevent any sort of salt creep or water getting to it. It's definitely not done but just trying out some ideas. There will also be an opening for the P/S fan. Thoughts an/or critiques? http://s27.photobucket.com/user/DrftNme/media/IMG_0721_zpscd8998b6.jpg.html'> http://s27.photobucket.com/user/DrftNme/media/IMG_0719_zps035773b5.jpg.html'> http://s27.photobucket.com/user/DrftNme/media/IMG_0720_zps0b9bc81c.jpg.html'> Link to comment
kory1006
Not sure if the power supply fan is push or pull, but I would add another fan to your enclosure to help with airflow. Going the opposite of the power supply of course. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Here is another idea I had, obvisously this is a sloppy mock up but I was thinking this might work better. The side plywoond on the stand doesn't offer any structural, well it does but it's not crucial to the stand. I can then just put the side panel on some hinges and have it held it place with cabinet door magnents so I can open it up so I can still have access to the power strip. Also the inside part of the stand will be sealed to protect from moisture. http://s27.photobucket.com/user/DrftNme/media/IMG_0723_zps5088b843.jpg.html'> http://s27.photobucket.com/user/DrftNme/media/IMG_0722_zps9ea98a55.jpg.html'> Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
Got my BXRA's in. Giant box for 4 950's and 4 reflectors. I havent really thought about where I'm going to put my P/S & LDD boards when I get to that point. Maybe mounted on the back of the canopy or something in a box that is open in the back for proper airflow. I'd say either one of your ideas would work. Just make sure you've got some airflow for that P/S fan. Or what about mounting a box on the back of the stand, open to the back for airflow reasons? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I haven't been able to find a project box in a size that'll fit the P/S and the boards. The P/S will definitely have flow. I just need to figure out how I want to exactly do this. Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
Build something out of scrap plywood from skinning the stand? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Maybe, I'll see how this turns out first. I'm with you on the size of the bxra's I was expecting them to be bigger than they are. Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
Yea they seem way little for the output they throw out. I guess the optional cell holder (which I'm not using) increases the size a bit. The Brooke-W's are just as big as I expected though. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
And the brookes look way more badass in person too. Link to comment
Giga
Pretty cool only thing I would do is mount the PS to something other then wood, I know there no real issue but I mounted mine on a piece of concrete board. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
May I ask why you'd suggest mounting it to something other than wood? And also, not gonna lie, the price of the 3w optics from Steves is pretty attractive, $0.45 a piece. I know these work on the Luxeons but will these work on the other 3w 20mm stars I.e the Exotic HV's and Cree Xp-e's? With silicone ofcourse. I'm assuming they will but I want to confirm this before ordering them. Link to comment
jedimasterben
They will definitely work, but going between Steve's and the Carclo lenses that LEDGroupBuy sells I noticed around a 15% gain in PAR. Link to comment

I get the Carclo ones are noticably better but are they worth almost 3x the price? What optics are you thinking? I'm thinking 90 for the cyans and 60 for the XPE blue and HV. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Right on, okay so I checked LGB and honestly couldn't find the Carclo's anywhere on the site. I'm also assuming those will work for the Luxeons, Exotics and Crees. Wait, are the Carclo's just the ones they have under the Cree optics? Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
I think what Ben is talking about is the standard LGB optics http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/cree-led-optics-lens/. Guessing those are made by Carclo. Link to comment

CrazyEyes
Okay thanks Ben, so these little guys right here, the xt-e/xp-g/xp-e ones. I'm running a little late and haven't been able to drink the required amount of coffee so my brain is a little stupid at the moment. http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/cree-led-optics-lens/ Link to comment
jedimasterben
Yes. And the lens itself is universal. The white holder is meant to kinda grip around the diode package so that the lens is in the proper position (centered directly over the diode) and is held at exactly the distance needed for the highest output, but it is not required. I ripped all of the lenses out of their holders because the ones made for the XT-E do not fit the LEDGroupBuy exotics, there are tiny beads of solder that keep the lens holder from sitting flush. They work fine without the holder, just gotta make sure they are centered over the diode. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Good deal then. I'll get to ordering them, thanks once Ben. Hey not to hound you but any idea when you might be able to sell the M's? Just simply curious. Link to comment
