Cuties :) I think you add the right choice with the firefish... Don't want to take a risk and them feel bad afterwards.

Thank you. I think I made the right choice as well.

Looks great

Thanks! it's coming along. I'm looking forward to adding a couple coral pieces soon. It's amazing how clean my rocks look under the Kessil 10K but as soon as the light is out, they look incredibly green with pink/purple spots.

Well, I got excited and planned to purchase my first corals this week. Luckily, I thought to ask them what coral dip products they sell. Their response? "Coral dip? You mean like calcium or iodine or something?" I explained the best way I know how and they were clueless. How is this possible? Anyway, this stepping stone is delayed until I get my shipment from Marine Depot on Wednesday.

Well, I finally added some coral and I may have gotten carried away. I bought a couple SPS frags locally along with a couple of nice mushrooms and an orange ricordea (all 10 days ago). I learned of a somewhat local frag supplier (saltcritters) and bought some nice florida ricordea and some mystery coral which ended up being a zoanthid frag of 4 heads, another ricordea and a pinkish candy cane. THEN, I went to a club meeting and bought two small eagle eye zoanthid colonies, a 4 head frogspawn and a blue plate coral. Here are a few shots

ooo, i been looking at Saltcritter for awhile. They have great sales. The rics look awesome. Now I am undecided whether to get rics from Aquascapers or SaltCritter.

I cant speak for salt critters but aquascapers has some of the nicest rics I've ever seen. I have 5 from them and they looks just at good as they did on their site.

Nice rics!

Thanks, I was impressed with them. The bonus ric was unattached to anything so I tried to glue it then I just put it in a shot glass with some mesh over it hoping it would attach to a rock. It finally did and then started spewing a bit of brown goo out of one of the mouths. I put it out in the tank and one of my asshole hermits pissed it off and it detached and got blown around to the back side of the tank.

I'm happy with the transaction and prices. I actually live about 20 minutes from him and can meet him in a town between us to pick up my order. I will order from them again for sure. On their site, they give you two pictures of the same coral under different light temperatures.

I was going to order from them until I learned about saltcritters. I still may, eventually.

wtf!! lucky!

lol. It is in my office and is only a PicO SI (5.5 gallons). I met a guy at the meeting who was breaking down his tank so I bought a 5 gallon bucket of sand, live rock (from his refugium) and water for 10 bucks and pretty much just dumped it in there. I'm hoping I can find a mantis shrimp that can call this place home.

Talk about lucky, the next morning I went to work to check on it and I found what I thought were mushrooms kind of floating near the intake up top. I picked them out and they were kind of sticky. Turns out I believe they are some kind of mini maxi anemone. They're about 1/2" diameter. I put them in my home display and they quickly went into hiding in the rock work. Here is one dead center blending in with my rocks.

Well, my black clownfish died sometime this morning. I came home at lunch and noticed he was little more than hermit scrap lying on the sand. The fish have always seemed so healthy and active! This is upsetting! I immediately ran a series of tests.

0 ammonia

0 nitrite

10 nitrate

1.025

79.4 degrees

The other clown seems fine so far.

Other than that, my corals are all doing well and I'm seeing decent growth on my sps.

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that. Pretty strange.
ouch, hopefully it's not some predator lurking in the shadows...
Strange about the clown. Hope you figure out what it was. Tanks looking good btw.

Thanks. I can't imagine it being any sort of predator since I started with dry rock. I don't know that I'll ever figure it out. The hermits really did a number on the poor thing. I didn't sleep well and woke up about every hour to check on the other clown. He still looks fine.

Sorry to hear that JP.

Thanks Jordon. I decided to add a couple of frags to help me get through the mourning process. I got these off the bargain rack. They look so much nicer under my light.
