You ever wonder what would happen if you sucked half the live sand out of a three year old 14 gallon and replaced it with new live sand?...

If it's deep and hasn't been stirred on a regular basis, bad things... I'd do it in smaller chunks or take it all in one go.

2-3 inches deep. Pulled out entire front half of sand bed in tank and replaced. Everything worked out great.

Must of missed it but did you close or sell your store?

Nah, the dude that "owns" it, is a complete idiot and a scammer, so I bailed. I manage the sw at the store I used to work at before. They needed me lol

I really need to break out the Nikon again and take some more tank shots. The memory card is full of amateur porn though...

So I decided to order a small uv sterilizer for the cube. It's pushing three years old now and after I introduced bubble algae, I'm pulling out the big guns. The plan is to run it for a few weeks after I go gangbusters on the bubble algae. I'm hoping most released spores will become fried by the UV and the emerald crab can handle the rest.

And I'm Sun burned all to hell speaking of UV. I look like red skull from the avengers.

So I decided NOT to order a UV sterilizer and instead decided to not be lazy and improve water quality. Bubble algae is almost gone and tank looks great. I moved some frags over from the frag tank (ponape Birdsnest, green pocillopora, and ORA Orange Digitata) the poci for some reason melted in a day, but it went from three different tanks in three days so who knows. I'll just grab another one from work, I'll "accidentally" frag some while cleaning.

changed my lighting configuration a little as well.

I cut those zoas out of trans shipped rock from Indo.

It had a bunch of milk toast and green zoas, with these right in the middle. Wherever that rock is now, it has a 2 inch hole dead center in a green zoa colony.

First time I've been able to shoot coral with the s3 and it not turn out like total shit

Ya, they look pretty good for a camera phone. The shot of the harly is neat.

So I'm having a 3 foot by 2 foot by 10 inch glass frag tank made. I'm tearing down the big ugly acrylic one finally. I've never been happy with the shape, layout, the way I did the sump, etc. So it's getting replaced. Think I'm finally gonna use my inline little giant pump for this one
