This coming from someone who doesn't have, and never has had, a clam. Didn't you just make a post asking all kinds of basic questions about clams? And know you're giving someone else advice? Wow...

this guy has it out for me too.

he's lame.

ive been in this hobby for a long time so i know my stuff.

ive have tons of books and 4 aquariums in my rooms. all saltwater.

i also worked at a fish store and maintained over 100 tanks constantly.

yeah, look at his posts, check out his pico, and then tell me he knows what he's talking about. "lame" would be a good term in relation to both his comments and his tank...

Tridacna clams are also filter feeders and constantly filter the water for small particulates. Derasa Clams larger than 2" do not require supplemental feedings, but smaller T. derasa that are less than 2" should be fed a phytoplankton or greenwater supplement several times per week if maintained in a nutrient poor reef aquarium.

Tridacna derasa are the hardiest and most adaptable of all the Tridacna spp., and require moderate to intense lighting and good water flow in the home aquarium. Proper water chemistry is very important, and they will thrive when calcium levels of 380- 450 mg/L, alkalinity level of 8-11 dKH, and magnesium level of 1280-1350 ppm are maintained.

i bet u get paid a LOT!

I'll admit it, I'm baffled by this comment...I don't even know what you're trying to insinuate here. But ultimately, it's irrelevant; we've taken this thread far off track, and for that I apologize to the OP.

...don't show ur clam any mollusk porn, or it will spawn and kill ur whole tank...

So funny yet so true. If you get a clam make sure you have a skimmer espically in a smaller tank. It can crash your tank when it goes sexual and takes all the O2 out of the water. That is why a skimmer can help or give you time to do a large wc to lessen the effects. CLAM SEX KILLS.
