Aquanist
Here's some pics of my latest hitchikers that came with the live rock. What's this on left side of the mushrooms? FTS coming soon as I get myself around to aquascaping the tank a bit. Link to comment

Aquanist
Bought 2 clownfishes today. Theyre about 4cm in length so I suppose I can keep them in my 8(ish) gallon for a few weeks before I move them to my 60 gallon tank. I just got too good a deal to pass. I suppose they're just basic A. ocellaris. Any feedback on this would be welcome. The other will get his/her white bars in due time or maybe remain as is? Either way they're my babies and I shall love them accordingly. The pair Link to comment
Aquanist
Ok. So now it's the time to say goodbye to the 8ish gallon nanocube and continue with my 60 gallon reef. The only things left in the smaller are last of my LPS and SPS. Everything else has already moved to the bigger tank and the water parameters have been up to the par and stable for a few weeks already. This is mainly as all my rock came from up and running tanks and were already well cycled and seeded and had loads of different softies and macros on them. The technics are: - 60 gallon tank (49 x 16 x 18 inches, w,d,h) - 150W Eheim Jäger heater - 2 koralia nanos hidden in the rockwork - - Aqua Medic biostar flotor skimmer (modded the biowheel away and added chamber for carbon + PO4 remover) - ATI Sunpower 6x54W T5 lighting system Fish: - 2 ocellaris clowns - azure damsel I'll be adding a list of my livestock soonish and maybe some more pictures too. Here's a pic of the tank I've already posted on my gallery. Link to comment

Aquanist
Got some new stuff on thursday... Slowly this tank is going to look the way I want it to. If only I had the patience to let it all really grow into it. And I still need a few nice colourful spots. This camel is holding and hasn't molted in ages fot that reason. It has already some fuzzy algae growing on it. Link to comment

Aquanist
Turned this one rock the other day to please my aesthetics more and lookie what I found growing on the backside. Needles to say it was to be the new frontside! Link to comment

Aquanist
Went to a small scale frag swap today and was pretty much prepared to pay in cash as I just havent had anything half decent to frag yet. Brought a couple of pieces of purple M. digitata with me though. Ended up going home with some green monti cap, red monti cap, green M. digitata, Xenia umbellata and some VERY green hammer Euphyllia. Not too bad with 2 pieces of purple monti that's growing like weed in my tank. Suppose I'm going to post some pics in few days as the newbies have had some time to recover from the transfer etc. Link to comment

Think I'm ready to post some pics on wednesday as I'm keeping the day off from work. After all - one picture speaks worth of a thousand words (two women speak worth of a thousand pictures). Aquanist
F*** me. I've had this caulastrea for a bit over a month now and it's been doing just fine in my tank. All except one polyp I deemed was damaged in transport etc.. Thought that little time and tlc would be enough. So today I was taking a few shots of my new arrivals and zoomed to that polyp through a lens and I saw something looking like a very small bony twig or something. Took the coral out to examine it more closely and it turned out there was a small 2,5mm parasitic crab living inside the polyp's mouth that had cut the coral for some shade. I was able to pull it out with a small set of tweezers and luckily the bugger didn't fight back too much so I didn't end up tearing the poor polyp apart. Link to comment
Lalani
Huh, sorry I missed this one before. Beautiful tank. Link to comment
Aquanist
Thanks Lalani! The caulastrea seems to have made pretty much a full recovery. The ripped part has some scarlike tissue on it but the mouth is just fine and sweeper tentacles are fully out for some nocturnal snack. However, I still kinda blame myself for overlooking that damage in the first place when I acclimated the newcomer. Link to comment
imcosmokramer
nice tank. nice photos. Link to comment

Aquanist
Got some frags and a really decent sized coral real CHEAP today. 30€ (44,50 USD) for all those shown below + a few spare frags in case all didn't kake the trip + couple of small branches of corals I already have such as purple montipora digitata etc. The pictures were taken instantly after I had dried my hands from placing in the corals so polyps are pretty much closed. Also, the water is murky as damn from usin Reef Construct putty. Maybe in a week or so I'll be taking the REAL shots of these newcomers. So consider these as a teaser only. Pink polyp monti some of the spares 2 branches of the green slimer + lots of slime Purple rim monti cap attached to green polyp monti + same from above New acro + nice polyt extension small piece on a BIG seriatopora bush Dunno really what - green acro of some description? crappy and cloudy FTS with everything closed up. Aquanist
Just browsed through those pics above and sheesh - they're just messy out of focus blurr. I need to retake the pictures. Maybe less coffee and more tripod this time. Actually it'll propably be untill next week that I can find the time to do so. Link to comment
Aquanist
I have a slightly shaded spot in the middle of the tank with adequate flow and I'd really appreciate any ideas on what LPS I could place there. Catalaphyllia jardinei comes to my mind as on that doesn't need tons of direct light. Hope someone could help me out a bit. And here's a FTS from today: Link to comment
Aquanist
Yay! I ordered a BM dosation pump in late Oct 09 and the supplier has had some delivery problems but today I received email that my unit has been shipped over to me. I didn't really mind the delay as I've doing ok with just kalkwasser for now. However now the SPL and LPS seem to be done with the acclimation and hesitation and really starting to grow so the timing is just perfect to get the balling started. Not to mention that the pump had 70USD off when I ordered it so I ended up paying only 160€ incl. freight from Hong Kong to Finland. Which was nice. And today I spotted an electronic ATO unit including pump and everything for 16,80€ (26,50USD). Do I need to say I put my order instantaniously. So all is going swimmingly right now! Link to comment
