Do I have to finish my build to be added to the list? I just started a 28G JBJ Nano led build yesterday.

Inspired by the Aqua Illuminations (AI) Sol Blue modules. I decided to build my own retrofit into my existing Red Sea Max 250 hood.

Specs:

48 3 Watt Cree LED's

Wiring and layout specs complete. I will be building 2 of these 16 x 6 (24 LED) modules.

Used connector bolts attached with epoxy to create the mounting hardware.

LED's attached (Thermal Adhesive)

All wired up. Lit them up to test and damn these are bright!

Was able to fit the 4 Meanwell drivers in the hood and retain the stock LED moon lights.

Installed the dimmer potentiometers under the timer lid (1 controls white, 1 controls blue). I really like the ability to mix the colors as well as slowly acclimate the tank.

Shot of the hood without optics for now as I still have a few things to clean up but needed to get some light on my corals that have been deprived for 3 days

I’ve completed my LED retro for BC29 using AquaStyleOnline 36 LEDs DIY Dimmable kit. It is self-contained, inside the stock hood design, to maintain BC29's original style and look.

Here is my build thread here

Hi yall

I think this is my first post on the forum...

Afte reading the extensive LED thread I became really inspired and decived to give it a go at building my own spots, since I have little knowledge of drivers and controller and what not...

This is basically a rip-off of Tinys pendant build :P

I glued together a plexiglass box, drilled some holes in a sheet to mount the sockets, which then will hang on the inside of the box, held in place (partially by bad measurments and) by bolts which also holds hoops on the roof for hanging.

I'm not sure about the temp on the whites. Ive sent a query to the seller. But if anyone here can tell is these are cool whites or not, I would appreciate it.

I only have 10 sockets at the time, but am waiting for some more to arrive. A total of 12 white and 12 blues for my 70x35 cm footprint tank (about 22 gallons i think). But I drilled for a total of 50 sockets, so I will probably fill those out during the near future.

Thanks for you attention.

I now added a custom moonlight that I built for $5.83 and it is nice.

I would highly recommend something similar. Cheap and low power consumption.

Hi all

Here is my DIY LED build, which consists off 110 x LUXEON ES 3 Watt LEDs and 7 drivers all from Steve's LEDs. Thanx to Ben for helping me out with the LED choice and lay out off them.

MakersLED heatsink and all led supplies bought from ledgroupbuy

I decided to go with a "full spectrum" layout that includes 135W of LEDS.

9 - 3up's that have 2 royal blue and 1 warm white.

9 - True Viloets

3 - Ocean Coral White 3 ups that include the reds and greens and blues missing from most layouts.

I decided on 3 clusters spread out over the heatsink to avoid anny hot spots or disco effect.

The LEDS are powered by 4 drivers all independently controlled and dimmable through my APEX.

17 Royal Blues on 1 channel powered by 40W 700ma invetronics driver

9 Violets and 1 Royal blue(that wouldnt fit on the other driver) powered by a 25W 700ma

9 Warm whites powered by a 25W 700ma invetronics driver

I built a DIY led light for my 29g Bowfront and it looks great. I had a friend that told me to stay away from the DIY because they don't last very long. When he built them in the past he had individual leds blow out, and it was a pain to chip out and replace. So my question is does anyone that has built there own led light have had this problem also.

For those who have never DIY'd any LEDs before, I'd recommend starting with a light for an algae scrubber. It's easy because it's just one color... 660nm red... and bins etc are not critical like they are with display.

Here is a pic of just the LEDs of a soon to be posted DIY plan for a floating surface scrubber. This LED is waterproofed...
