So my monti is going asexual on me....

At first, i thot i had monti eating nudi's,

but after 3 nights of watching, and seeing nothing, im sure thats not the case...

but then, I read an article on how some sps can go asexual and drop "goo" that turns int frags.

I think that's what's happening here...

Other than the "goo" the monti exhibits perfect health.

Nice idaho! I wish mine looked even half as nice.

I'm having trouble with my SPS -_- Turning poo brown, from the high nitrates from temporarily housing NPS corals

Your montis look very healthy, what is your maintenance schedule like? Do you feed your corals at all?

sho do shawty.... B)

I spot-feed my LPS & Sun Corals one cube of "PE Mysis",thawed in a bowl of tank water, every 3 days...

I know that a whole cube every 3 days sounds like a lot, but my tank devours it in less than 5 minutes.

*Between 4 fish, 3 cannibal shrimps, and 2 crabs... it goes fast.

My filter feeders have all grown dramatically since i started this feeding schedule.

My only warning to you is this: I do HEAVY wc's....lik 2g's a week.

That's the ONLY reason i get away w/ feeding this much in this small of a space.

;)

Ive been cutting back to feeding 1x a week lately, to help in eliminating cyano.

I dont think the cyano is from the heavy feedings, tho. (it only appeared after adding actinics)

I think its my OLD actinic bulb causing it....Im just cutting down its food supply.

friggin old bulb.....

I sure missed these pic updates while I was gone. Although I was out swimming in the original reef tank (aka the ocean lol). Your BCG is frickin sweet! I dont know what it is about these black fish that I like so much but I sure do like them alot. Those Incredible Hulk Lords are sweet too!

We missed ya Ope-dogg.... I can honestly say that....

Black fish are just rad. They are my absolute fav. color fish.

If mah gurl would let me, I'd have a NPS tank full of black fish..... :D

Thats my dream "project"....

but, she needs a new truck first... <_<

EDIT: those 'Hulk Lords were $35 for 12 heads!!!! can you believe that?

I saw a black fish inside one of those planted reef pots. It was huge and when I saw the teeth we decided to swim away promptly lol.

$35?! That's a heck of a deal!

Pismo you have 4 fish in the tank right? I'm debating how many I will be able to put in my new 10g. I'm thinking a couple picasos and a ycg.

Easily Do-able....

-Add the pair of Clowns first...

-Then wait a month for tank equillibrium (sp?)

-Then add the goby....

thats what i did. I also watched my tests almost daily, and saw what the params do in reaction to fish.

thats why i suggest the pair, then a month of "settling"....

after that month w/ 2 fish in a 10g, the tank will be almost bulletproof, nitrate-wise....

if you want proof, my Nitrates are @ Zero ppm.... Always.

Thanks for the method there. What I might have to do (in order to take my larger tank down by x-mas) is move a damsel and the YCG into the 10g once it finishes its cycle. Then, when I get back from my vacation, find a new home for the damsel before I add the clownfish. Doubt there would be any issues with the YCG messing with new tank inhabitants. I could always just get rid of the YCG I have now and get a new one later too, but Buck has grown on me :D lol.

Ha, yeah, at least its shallow and completely open up top. I wish I could keep all 4, but that would be pushing it a bit too much. It's a Talbot's Damsel, fwiw.

At least its werth the stress then,

and yea, I do have 4 fish in here.... i forgot to answer that.

you can do 4 fish....it just takes time.
