Now you'll just need a pico for your dorm room! B) I kept a one gallon FW tank in mine, although that was before I caught the SW bug.

Hey Poop!!

Really nice set-up you got goin' here!!

Love what you've been able to accomplish with this set-up.

I have a couple of questions for you......

What is the temp of your room and your reef? I think you have 96 watts

of T-5 over it, right? How do you keep your temps stable?

How often and what volume are your water changes?

Thanks and keep it up!

Sorry if you've already covered this info.

The room temp stays between 70 and 85 degrees fahrenheit

The 96 watts of T5 have given me no temp. prblems

There is no chiller, just a heater. Temps have remained relatively stable.

I do 10-40% a week (It depends on how ambitious I am that particular week)

Thanks!

and

Good Luck!

Sweet tank. It's amazing how much the colors pop, and you pulled of the gray sand effect really well. Sorry if this has already been answered, but thats just a standard All Glass 10 gallon and you just removed the top plastic trim, right? Is there a reason why you didn't remove the bottom trim as well? Just curious because I removed the top & bottom trim from my 10 gallon today, looked really sleek, and then I read the horror stories about how almost every tank owner who did this had his tank explode. Much to say I am now totally freaked out that my 10's gonna explode. What is your opinion on this? Does the bottom rim provide some sort of essential support which has allowed it not explode the past year(ish)?

Sorry for weird question.

Good luck at college & with this awesome tank!

I enjoyed following this thread, your tank is awsome. Hope to see the odd growth shot over time.

I've heard the same stories re tank blowout without the plas base. Appearently it provides main support for the uprights to the base. The pressure (even small amts) causes substrate to constantly compact, if there is 'give' to the sides (silicone is flexy) they don't return to original position and eventually a fracture point is created.

I have seen a pseudo-rimless bottom: the owner simply framed in around the plastic base with the same material as the stand to give the illusion. Good luck.

Very nice tank and nice process.

One question> What happened to the yellow carpet leather?
