Micro-Reefs Aquariums

In summer of 2004, I entered an award winning 1.6 gallon pico, that took first prize! My pico was photographed and featured in a European Salt Water Magazine! B)

My heart has always been small hence our company name! :)

So to kick off my 8 year anniversary of entering that contest, I decided to create an awesome Office Ecosystem pico!

She's on our site for Sale! and the special is she comes with free live rock, hand chosen by me and sculpted by me, there is a reason I won first prize! ;)

Here are the pics:

I seriously might have to get this and put my other tank on hold for awhile I just need to get some salt and water ready looks like a great deal. Will the light actully support corals? Sorry don't know to much about lights.

Yes,

The light gives off a nice PAR reading for softies, I placed in there mushrooms; rics and yumas! They will do fine with this type of lighting and setup.

I ran this size tank for a year without problems due to lighting.

I don't recommend live sand, and would run bare bottom, it looks just elegant and would be easier to do water changes in the office.

I'm hoping to order tonight so be prepared. Haha. Kinda wanted sand but I can do without.

You can do sand, just don't get lazy on me and then go weeks without cleaning the sides, then photograph your Micro-Reef all jacked up! LOL

If you order tonight, I will get yours in the mail manana! Before I go scuba diving, I have reservations to dive Point Lobos in Carmel, we are doing a doubles dive out to Twin Sisters a deep reef!

Thanks....

Wow, for this price, I think I may want to use this for my seahorses. How long is this lasting for and could I special order it with dry rock instead of live( to keep your artistic ability on display)

Just placed my order can't wait!!!!!

Thanks,

It's fully packaged and ready to be dropped off tomorrow at the UPS store! I sent you confirmation number and a photograph of the box!

Even though our packages are 100% insured by us, we like to photograph them prior to leaving our warehouse especially if they are glass!

Thanks,

MG

I can do dry rock no problem and this special will last until all tanks are sold! In the past, I have shipped live rock for free with my larger 2 gallon tank, so this one is even smaller and easier for me to aquascape.

Jon253 got the live rock you see the photos above! :)

Great, I'm talking my girlfriend Ito getting it for me for my upcoming birthday now! Haha.

Sweet,

We have plenty, you will be able to get one!

Would this size tank with softies require a heater, as well? If so, what would you recommend?

Lara

P.S. I can't stop looking at this little tank set up. It's SO CUTE!

Hey Mike,

Any idea on heaters for this? Or do you not need one with it being so small and the light? I would imagine you'd need one.

Still working in her. :D

I 3rd the heter question. Everything I found online is either too overpowering, or not controllable.

I'd be smiling too. LOL!

Cool setup. Few questions:

* Heater?

* Off often does this need to be topeed off? Would I come in on Monday to a dry tank?

Yes a heater is very important with this setup, but let me explain why I didn't package it.

I wanted to keep this kit under $80 dollars and I wanted to keep the look clean as possible, I'm not a fan of the cords and heaters sticking all over the place, never have been.

I try to conceal everything.

Because you guys are asking for one, I will find the best one for this kit!

I will sell the heater as an add on.

MG

I'm to anxious I can't wait and I'm getting the rock used to show off the tank how cool is that :)

Yes you are!

You were the first in line to order the kit, so that rock you see is yours! :)

I hand pick every kit I sell and I play around with the live rock to sculpture it before you get it! I was famous for that back in the day, I have a way with the look... :D

MG

The LED fixture puts out ZERO heat and it's raised, no way will that transfer any heat! The glass top will slow down heat from escaping and jumping fish.

You will require a heater for the office, when it's left over the weekend and they shut off the heating/cooling system.

Add on will be found shortly, but they are super hard to find super tiny and with a thermostat! I'm looking hard to offer this as well.

Like I mentioned before I wanted to keep cost down below $80 dollars for the whole kit! :)

MG

That is why I didn't add it in there, I was hoping the office temp would work nicely, constant temp of most offices that run cooling/heating!

It keeps cost down off the kit, but I'm looking at a thermostat heater....

MG

p.s

Your lady will be happy with your purchase when she sees that your morale has stepped up with you wanting to get to work on time and your work production increases because you have a happy tank in front of you! LOL

:o

I'd be smiling too. LOL!

Heater yes, if your office is super cold, 65 degrees and below, super easy to get a heater in there.

Because it has a glass top, evaporation is slowed, ZERO chance ever that you would come back to dry tank!

Only way that happens if the janitor empties out your tank because they are mad at you.

I would make sure to top off tank on Friday! Just like you would a plant! Simple as that!

Do you think I could grow a frogspawn or hammer with this tank and light, or is that asking too much? :P

You could easily grow a frogspawn or hammer corals but here is the problem.

I tried it back in 2004 on our 1.6 gallon pico, that's only like half a size bigger than this tank. It was one frag in the center embedded into the sand.

All was great for about 30 days, then it started growing extra heads, awesome, so I thought!

Nope, it got too big too quickly and its sting is deadly to all the softies, needless to say, it had to be pulled out.

As a combination of corals, these guys cannot be placed in there.... By themselves, maybe! Never tried it....

Haha, I didn't think it would ever grow that fast! I might try it for awhile. :D

It does when you dose Kent Marine Starter kit! I was dosing every other day and it grew practically overnight! :o

As far as the heater goes, do you have one in mind currently, or are you going to search for one? And how long before it's available on your site? :D

Doesn't take too much to motivate me! After a little R&D we have come up with a heater that doesn't require any drilling or modes and it fits right into your Red Sea nano/filter, BEST OF ALL IT IS NEVER IN VIEW!

If you need a heater for your Office Ecosystem they are on our website under Heating/Cooling...

You need a temp controller for that though right?

There are currently no tiny heaters that have controllers. None that I could find on the market, I looked.

This heater is simple, on FRIDAY before you leave from work turn on the heater if your office doesn't maintain heating and cooling over weekends! (And you know that the office will drop below 65 degrees)

If your office stays at 74-78 degrees ambient there is no need for a heater, not for these types of softies...

Come back on Monday and disconnect!

It is a very weak heater and only would spoil your corals if the office got to 88 degrees ambient and you have it running ON during the weekend.

Then you need a chiller and it's another story... -_-
