Ruester007
Good luck. Everything looks like you are headed in the right direction. A word of caution, the Mandarin is an intense fish and requires very special care. Read up on others experience and make sure you are willing and able to provide the right environment. Thanks for the advice, i know of the difficulty in keeping a mandarin. Unless i find one accepting frozen or pellets right away ill probably hold off on it for a while. 2 Quote Link to comment

Arce
About to pull the trigger and buy a WP-10, saw a couple videos and i think it'll be good. Was thinking about saving up for a MP10 but its very pricey. Quote Link to comment

Arce
Thanks, I hate my scape though! I think it looks good. Just keep moving it around I'm sure you will find a good scape that you like. I'm very picky with my scapes, my past tanks I've used live rock but this time around i went with dry so i could make an awesome scape. Then I used the mortar from MacroRocks to make it solid. I'm extremely happy with how it came out, after the mortar cures it is extremely strong, I accidentally dropped the left island on the floor when moving it and it didn't even budge. Arce
Ended up not getting the WP-10, I ordered a media reactor instead since I still have time to cycle, so I wont need the WP10 right away. Just nervous that the rocks or sand might leach phosphates so I want to get the GFO reactor up ASAP. Once I get home from work I'm going to drill my glass-holes overflow and hopefully get the tank filled. Quote Link to comment
Arce
So good news and bad news... Bad news is my tank wasn't sitting level on my stand. I was sitting on a chair just admiring the tank when i could see a gap between the tank and stand. With some advice from some local reefers all I need to do is replace the top and shim it a bit so that it sits flat. Hopefully this will work. Good news is I got a couple packages in today! The most important being my Glass-holes overflow! Drilling was so much easier then I thought it was going to be! Was pretty nervous when I drilled it, but it came out good and didn't crack. My other package was part of my order from foster+smith. I ordered some Dr.Tim's "one and only" nitrifying bacteria, figured id give it a shot. It arrived first because it has to be refrigerated. My other part of the order i should get tomorrow which will be my reactor that I'm going to use for GFO. After I drilled the overflow i painted the back and got excited so I threw in my sand and rocks. Hopefully I can get this tank wet soon! 1 Quote Link to comment

frags
Whats the problem wit the stand? How much is un level? Quote Link to comment
Arce
Whats the problem wit the stand? How much is un level? Its not that bad, but enough that i could see light under the center of the tank coming through. To put a measurement on it id say a bit more than 1/16". Don't want to stress the glass so a simple fix with shims will do the trick, the problems that I have to borrow tools to do the work. Quote Link to comment
frags
Depot sell shims made allready for a couple bucks and you can cut them with a utility knife. Thats how I filled my gaps! Quote Link to comment

Arce
Got some more goods in the mail today! My reactor that I plan to run GFO in. Fits perfect in my stand, and there's plenty of room to put another eventually to run carbon as well. Hopefully i can head out to the store and get the plywood and shims for my stand. I want to get this running soon!!! 2 Quote Link to comment
Arce
Fixed my stand! Just took some shims and a new plywood top. Tank sits nice and flat on the top. That means.... I can get the tank wet soon!!! Finished up my plumbing tonight, everything's in place and should be ready to go. Just need to do some final touches on it and wait for the slow drip of my RODI. Probably going to get fed up and just go buy some RODI from my LFS tomorrow because i need to get this cycling before my classes start on Tuesday. Quote Link to comment
Arce
Tanks wet!!!! omgomgomg Another 5 gallons and it should be filled! Quote Link to comment
Arce
Up and running!! Going to let it run all night and just make sure everything is good before i throw the salt in and start the cycle. Ill probably do a quick 5 gallon change to try to siphon out some of the dust from the sand. I rinsed it but there's still a horrible cloud. Quote Link to comment
frags
Very nice man keep it going. The dreaded wait is coming. Quote Link to comment
Arce
So the tanks up and running, still pretty cloudy from the sand even though I rinsed it like 5 times. It should clear up by tonight if not tomorrow. Ill post a new picture once its clear. Also I caved in and bought a MP-10! 1 Quote Link to comment
Arce
Happy I got the MP-10, definitely worth it. Ill probably add a Koralia eventually when i go heavy sps, even though the MP-10 is strong I think I will want some more flow. Quote Link to comment
