KSMART
Welcome! sounds like it is going to be a really cool setup. If I were to get LED's I would go with the AI hydras with the controller. Quote Link to comment
duncan-junkie
Welcome!! If your into DIY, Rapidled.com has some great LED's. I have some over my tank and LOVE em!! 1 Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
Thank you! Yea I was definitely considering the hydra, or the Vega not sure if I'll buy the controller though. Only because I going to be getting an apex controller and I hear their will be an update soon that would allow it to control the ai. Unless the controller does something that the apex wouldn't be able to do? I have pics but when I try to upload them here it's telling me file size too large. Should I make a photobucket account? Thanks for the welcomes! A DIY fixture is something I'd look into also! I made a DIY fixture once before over my previous 75g mixed reef. It worked great, dimmable and all. But to be honest it wasn't the prettiest! Lol and since this is a small build I kinda want to keep things neat, no drivers visible etc. The stand will be clear so I was thinking of something all in one. Quote Link to comment

FishBrawler
On photobucket, there should be a thing on the side that says IMG code. copy and paste that into the responce. 1 Quote Link to comment

Tripwyr
Nanobox.com? Will be looking into all suggestions. Thanks! Will a single mp10 suffice? I'm going to need some decent flow for the sps. Nanoboxreef.com You can also PM Dave Fason on this board. Quote Link to comment

CustomAquariumBx
Did a little water testing on the sump last night, everything was nice and dry over night hopefully I don't find a pool in my bathroom waiting for me when I get home from work today. Sorry in advance for the crappy cell pics! Had a little free time at work today so I drillled the acrylic for the bulkhead into my refugium. And I'll be cutting out a slot for the bulkhead in my refugium cover as well. Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
My Reef Octopus Diablo DC 5500 return pump should be delivered on Wednesday, so I'll be drilling the tank for the return and the over flow. I'm going with an overflow like this to keep a clean low profile and maximize space in the small tank. I'm debating on drilling one or two 1" drains with screens for the overflow. Any suggestions? Will one be able to handle the DC 5500 on full blast? Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
Polishing up the edges on some of the last pieces of acrylic. Shelf, bracing, etc. Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
Had some time to install the supports for the shelf inside the stand last night. The shelf itself will be removable if need be to gain access to the skimmer/return sections. 1 Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
Had A little time to do some drilling yesterday. I'm always a little nervous when drilling glass no matter how many times I've done it before! But this was my first rimless drilling and it came out well! now I can measure up my plumbing so I can mount the diablo dc 5500 to it's acrylic base and set up some type of suspension system for it. Probably some 1/4" grommets or bushings to keep vibrations to a minimum. 4 Quote Link to comment
Reefed419
WOW, this is a super sexy setup. Nice looking and it will be unique. Good luck with this build, can't wait to see your corals once added. What's the plan for fish? 1 Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
Looking great. Thanks! Great work Thank you! WOW, this is a super sexy setup. Nice looking and it will be unique. And as far as fish I'm not really sure yet, I know I definitely want a Catalina goby. I've had a percula for about 4 years now so he's family. And maybe some anthias we'll see how the nutrient level are once the cycle is over. Quote Link to comment
Reefed419
Any reason you did not build the aquarium? Would have been super cool to see the tank and stand incorporated all in one style. That would be an interesting take on that term. 1 Quote Link to comment
Illuiix
Nice DIY stand! I'm surprised the acrylic made stand can support such a heavy asset...impressed indeed! Quote Link to comment
CustomAquariumBx
Any reason you did not build the aquarium? Would have been super cool to see the tank and stand incorporated all in one style. That would be an interesting take on that term. I did consider it but, I hate how easily acrylic scratches. For a sump or stand I don't mind acrylic but for the display tank I wouldn't want to deal with it lol. I hear low iron glass is a little susceptible to scratches also but not nearly as delicate. Nice DIY stand! I'm surprised the acrylic made stand can support such a heavy asset...impressed indeed! Thank you! Well it's pretty thick acrylic 1/2"and reinforced top and bottom so I think it should be ok.........hopefully! Lol 1 Quote Link to comment
