90_berlin_joe
Looking to add a clam to my display but really think i dont have enough light there. 90gal with 300watts no halides. Now my 12 nano has 48wats which is 4watts per gallon however i am thinking that the water would be an issue although my levels are all amazingly perfect. What do you guys think? Link to comment
Caesar777
No. No way. First off, fluo rays only penetrate about 12-20" MAX, so a 90 is too deep for anything but halides. The nano MIGHT be able to support a derasa or gigas (either will outgrow it soon) or squamosa clam (placed up high), but certainly not a crocea, which needs potent halides. Also keep in mind that there's more than just lighting involved; the water conditions must be VERY stable, including making sure that the calcium and alkalinity are in a perfect balance always.
