SteveLee
I have a 10gallon with the new current usa orbit 2x 40 watt light with the lunar lights. is it possible to put a clam in there ? Link to comment
balla816
maybe a squamosa or a deresa but a crocea and a maxima are too light demanding to keep under 80 watts Link to comment
666
Squamosa's get huge. I just saw one at the LFS that was about 8 inches. Link to comment
tangdude
how fast do they grow? Link to comment
Kogut
Slowly, especially under lights like those. I have a crocea in my 20L because I have a tank full of acros and sps. The 250watt MH is a great thing. I'd say get a squamosa because they're cool looking and aren't too hard to care for. Just be sure you don't forget to supplement the light w/ some feeding. SaltyDawg
My crocea has grown roughly 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch inside of 2 1/2 months in my 29 with sps lps and softies w/ 175w halide. Link to comment
BKtomodachi
I'd say no clams. Halides are pretty much a must... dont get me wrong a few people have them under hella pc's but it still bothers me that every newbie has the "I'll blaze the trail" attitude about clams under less than adequate lighting. yarquint
amen tomo- i agree, someone a bit back posted an excellent thread (maybe uchiha?) about their exp. with clams under pc v. mh. PC works, only for smaller clams for short time ranges... Link to comment
FateX9
another thing about these clams...they all get big it's in their name - "giant clams" so if it's size you're worried about , count any of these clams out Link to comment
