sam_the_reefer
Redid the light mount because the previous version wicked water to the floor. I see lots of blue hypnea growth and I'm hoping to do them justice this time around. The zoas I put into this tank don't seem to be doing well, but hopefully the better spread and intensity adjustment from the new light height will make them happier. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

sam_the_reefer
Had to adjust the light intensity a bit after the new mounting height. I think it's in a good place now (fingers crossed). Also makes pruning and maintenance much easier. 1 Quote Link to comment

Tank looks great, though it looks like it’s about to be stormed by a tiny character of some kind. And what’s up with the name change… you go into witness protection? 🥷 1 1 Quote Link to comment

The "tiny character" is Donatello, only the most awesome Ninja T. XD 1 Quote Link to comment

sam_the_reefer
This tank wasn't forgotten. I just trimmed it, but I'm still not satisfied. My car has been in the shop for almost 3 months now and I'm just itching to go to the beach and get some yellow macros to complete it. 20230904_085741.mp4 2 Quote Link to comment
sam_the_reefer
Rescaped this tank again! 2 1 Quote Link to comment
sam_the_reefer
Life got in the way and the tank was not maintained and went downhill from the last rescape. Though it looks like it's turning into a zoa/shroom tank, I still want this to mostly be macroalgae. The good is that I added Swales Basslets to this tank around 6 months ago and have actually paired up. 1 Quote Link to comment

sam_the_reefer
Mom passed away last month. I lost the firefish last May (most likely jumped). Zoas have bleached out from the light intensity changes from old blackbox light. Very neglected for the past few months, but I'm still not giving up on this tank. Toothbrushed and trimmed parts of the tank and updated the light to an Aqua Knight A021. Started at 80% blues and 40% whites but got some intense pearling from that so I reduced it to 60% blues and 20% whites for now. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
TheCoffeeReef
Condolences on your mom's passing, seeing you channel the energy into this corner of the reef is inspiring and I can relate; my tank has a similar benefit to coping with and making sense of the stresses of life. I'd love to see you attempt more macro algae and sponges, this tanks vibe has been very nostalgic to me, looking like reefs from the 90's and Bob Fenner books. When the Zoa's were doing good, what did you observe about your set-up? 1 Quote Link to comment

When the Zoa's were doing good, what did you observe about your set-up? Thanks for the kind words. The zoas did well for about a month, but I adjusted the old light's mounting height for safety reasons and I never quite got the right intensity after that. I think I light-shocked them. The old light also had a number of burned out leds, so I finally decided to replace it. 1 Quote Link to comment
