Got the Ruby Reef Rally and Kick Ick arriving tomorrow (I know @jack1978 says it's snake oil but it has seemed to work for me in the past). Here's hoping 24hrs of UV sterilized water and meds will help them. They're still eating so there's hope. I tried the Kick Ich stuff on my first battle before researching Ich and understanding what it is. I tried it. I lost every single fish. QT tank is so much easier and less frustration. -If they make it, it wasn’t from using that snake oil. Good luck little one! 2 Quote Link to comment

Yeah I can’t catch them all without damaging corals or scratching io glass. They gonna have to dig deep and win this battle in that tank. this is my happy faaaaace Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
FTS and sectional shots from today. I wasn’t trying to win any contest, but besides that I haven’t figured out how people take these amazing FTS of such a large reef yet. So with mine you may have to zoom in. 4 2 Quote Link to comment

Sorry my OCD side hates that crap.................. You mean just stir it? Scrape it? Rake it? Drop down flip it and reverse it? I don’t understand using a blade in sand- that crap is down under the sand layer not on the glass if that’s what you mean. I keep the glass clean for the most part. Quote Link to comment

ECLS Reefer
Yellow.... one more day of yellow. Both of the new baby clowns died yesterday. 😭 So far the only casualties, though Hector and Pearl the other two clowns are the only other sick ones showing distress. I’m afraid to even try to catch Pearl because she’s tired- I’m leaving her with her goniopora since she doesn’t leave it much. Have one more day of Ruby Reef Rally to do tomorrow. Going to do a water change again this afternoon because the nitrates are still high (most likely because I stirred the sand). So, will stir the sand well again when I go to do the change up, and hope that’s the last one for a while. Got my new Kessil H80 Tuna Flora light in for the refugium, which helped decrease some of the junk in there considerably. Hope the macro takes off like a rocket now. Quote Link to comment

ECLS Reefer
So. I guess this is where you get to caution people against the world of saltwater reefing, because it can go tits up in minutes? I now have a 120g tank with One. Single. Mandarin. Every other fish has died, from what now shows itself to be brookynella. The powder brown tang was covered in mucus shreds and slime when he succumbed yesterday. And I guess that makes sense for why the clowns went first and so fast. But now I have no fish and a plague tank. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 God help the poor mandarin. Long may she reign. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

God, I'm so sorry! 😭 I faced the same issue last week with my 70G FW eel tank - lost a *lot of fish including 3 eels and several torpedo barbs which I kept for nearly 4 years. Tried everything - but I was up against fungal, viral & bacterial infections. Flukes too. My tank is still in recovery mode - might lose whatever that's left, but diseases suck. Period. 😔 Any chance you can catch the mandarin somehow and isolate it in a QT for the next few weeks until the meds run through the system completely? Leaving the DT fallow for a while should help in a way also, I *think. 🤔 So sorry once again! 😔 2 1 Quote Link to comment

mitten_reef
That’s a gut punch. Sorry for the losses. Hopefully you can bring the tank back to disease free state somehow. I’ve seen an info thread on brooks on here before. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

Leaving the DT fallow for a while should help in a way also, I *think. 🤔 So sorry once again! 😔 Well the QT we set up had copper in it so I couldn’t put her in there. And we had to completely dismantle the tank and all rocks and corals to get all the fish out, which didn’t help their stress levels at all. This shit hit so hard- I was sitting here thinking oh it’ll be okay it’s just ich, get another cleaner shrimp and a UV sterilizer and it’ll sort itself out, until I saw what the PBT looked like and was like oh man this isn’t ich. Plus I was so confused at how the clowns really never displayed ich spots but up and died so fast. Now I know. I talked to the LFS owner today because I returned that emperor angel to him and he said it’s healthy. So it makes me wonder if the brook rode in on those baby clowns or one of those wrasses that died. The clowns were not in the store long- he said his holding tanks are all copper and UV treated. I guess they didn’t stay long enough to benefit. 1 Quote Link to comment

I PMd @Humblefish today to ask if there was any emergency treatment I could really attempt, but by the time I got home from work they were all super tachypneic and refusing to move. I did try a Hail Mary ruby reef rally dip but they all coded and died. Except for the YTD. My husband is wondering if he’s the cockroach of the SW world since he’s still in QT battling, though I have no hope for him. The Mandy looks fine still so there’s that. 4 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
And yes I tried to resuscitate my fishies, because that’s what a good little paramedic/critical care nurse/ ECMO specialist does. My poor fishy babies 😫😭😭😭 3 Quote Link to comment

Tamberav
Wow I am sooo sorry this happened to you. 😞 I came to check in on the Ich situation but guess it was much more sinister 😞 I use a full reef conditioning tank and observe fish for 4-6 weeks and only remove to treat disease in an actual hospital tank if I have to. I find it works really well to keep stress levels low on delicate fish but still keep the DT safe. I just bought 3 new fish last week but they came down with some ich so I am TTM/peroxiding them. I got them eating in the conditioning tank before the Ich got bad though so that helped. Now I will fallow that tank. The only downside to all this is space and time... Otherwise there are venders on humblefish forums who sell fully QT fish. Anyways be sure to fallow your tank for 6 weeks. I would not trust rally to get it all and would just fallow. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Cannedfish
This. Sucks. But I know you and the tank will bounce back. We are all behind you. 1 Quote Link to comment
