Are these bad hitchhiker's on my live rock? Photos

Oh nice Brittle Star, really useful member of your Clean up Crew. They are Detritus eaters, although they can also sometimes take small animals too. 

Got some Nice Coralline Algae on that rock as well. 

 

Not sure on the others, if you prod it are they squishy?

Red stiff looking coral

White egg cell looking things 

I think a brittle star

And a small hermit crab

I’m not sure about the red things. The white ones with little holes look like tunicates.

I've ordered the book 'Aquarium Corals' by Eric to help me identify things hopefully

I don’t know what the red thing is, maybe a type or sponge. It looks cool tho whatever it is. Where did you get your live rock from?

I think the red thing is branching coraline algae and the rest are sponge or tinucate....except the brittle star, which is a brittle star.  😉

 

Good book!  

 

Another you might consider looking for is Reef Invertebrates by calfo and fenner.

 

Steve Tyree's reeffarmers.com site has a lot of spong ID and info on the cryptic/sponge page too.
