Hannahhhh
I don’t have a QT tank and I want to add my first fish... Am I safer getting a fish from my LFS or from an online source? Are there any particularly trustworthy online sources? I was thinking live Aquaria. Thoughts? Quote Link to comment
seabass
Being a first fish, you don't have to worry about infecting your other fish. I have had some bad luck with my local stores. Live Aquaria is a good choice. Their Diver's Den selections are even better (I believe they go through even more intense quarantine protocols). Now I only purchase fish online. Quote Link to comment
Clown79
The only issue is if the first fish has any disease, you will then have to remove and treat it while the tank goes fallow for 8-10weeks. If you want to avoid that, setting up a qt is the way to go. Quote Link to comment

On Live Aquaria...if you look under ORA fish. They are shipped directly from the ORA facility and have always been disease free for me. They are captive bred. This will limit your options to captive bred fish but it is a pretty safe bet. 1 Quote Link to comment
