Well, I felt like I needed to make a quick decision for the tank as a whole... not really sure what was going on with all those bubbles appearing like that, but I decided I might be putting the rest of the tank at risk... I plan to get a QT up and running so I can better deal with this kind of situation in the future, because ideally it would have been best to just put it in QT to monitor. Think the other option is that I could have fragged a healthy piece off my Fiji yellow... Quote Link to comment

If you are going to make %100 water changes next, that would make it obvious that you’re under wicked spell of @1891Bro and his “drunk” excuses. 1 Quote Link to comment

Any bubbles appearing like that over a couple of hours seemed concerning to me. But I totally understand if you are disappointed in my decision... I’ve seen other people discard their corals when I thought they were totally saveable and it made me sad. And I was still fully sober when I made my decision haha. I personally won’t be making any 100% water changes. But I really appreciate everyone on here so much, and all of your different perspectives... you guys and my tank have all gotten me through a very stressful time in my life, and all of you “regulars” may not know me yet, but I value you all more than you know. How dare you. 😂 No one made me throw my leather in the trash... I am an intelligent person and made my own decision. One thing I’ve learned in this hobby is how different we all are in our approaches. I kind of love that about this hobby. I mean, it would be nice to have a definite right way to do it, and I wanted that in the beginning, but now I think it’s pretty amazing to see how many ways we can create our own little ecosystems and learn from each other’s methods. Clown79
Most leathers have that happen to them. It doesn't seem to be an issue. There are tiny micro bubbles that are in the water and sometimes, they attach to sand, corals, even fish. 2 Quote Link to comment

And I also think it may have been related to the lettuce nudibranch that had just crawled around on it a couple of hours earlier... maybe either the nudi or the leather responded by sliming up some, and then bubbles in the water stuck to the slime... I’m not really sure, but after this experience I definitely plan to get my IM Nuvo 10 up and running so I’ll have that as a QT tank so I have a better way to monitor a problem like this in the future and I don’t feel like I need to make such a quick and drastic decision. I really hope it wasn’t dino... two of my LFSs that I buy things from have had recent run ins with them. Quote Link to comment

It had no appearance like dino's. It had the appearance of micro bubbles settling on some algae. It happens all the time. Qt the leather would have caused it to be pissed off further leading you to believe there was an issue because it would have shrunk up, hung over, and not opened due to being touched and moved.
