Great informative thread. Did anyone remove the honeycomb on the outside of the tank? 

How did you do it? I didn't want to use a razor blade in fear that it will scratch the tank glass.

I did not and now that the tank has water, it might be too late.  I heard the little black bits goes everywhere when scrapping it off.  The only method I've seen is using a razor blade to scrape it off.

I like the looks of the tank with the hood and not doing any corals too demanding, but want a little bit more of an actinic look to the stock light, has anybody upgraded the light but been able to keep the hood?

I too thought the stock light was too white. I was able to adapt two blue led bars inside the hood that I got off amazon. 

It added some nice blues and worked well with the stock hood and light.

Thanks for the link!  So you do like the look with those lights? Do you have a link for the lights?

The blue bars helped out alot. Highly recommend. You will need two bars.

I used a ps2 skimmer way too touchy with very little results. Then I got the aquatic life 115 skimmer and got the same results. I dumped the skimmers and put an intank basket in chamber 1 with chemi pure blue and filter floss. I switched to a lifegard quiet one pump model 800. Definitely better results. I am using the space in chamber 2 to plumb in an external chaeto reactor. I will post on results. Also I love the AI Prime and am deciding between that or a nanobox mini tide plus m

I’m intending on bringing home a 13.5 evo today and would love to mod some egg crate media baskets for the filtration. Those that have done it- how did you do it? I’m not an overly diy person but I’m always eager to try!

Also hoping to find out more about this! I followed your RC link and read there too. What power source did you use? Is it a mod someone with no experience can do? I’d love to do this ASAP
