HIppieRose
Some very unhappy corals after the peroxide dip. But I didn't move any GHA over. I don't think. Need to fiddle with the settings on my SLR. Still can't get good pictures. Not the right colors. Quote Link to comment
Halo_003
Looking good so far! Just wait till you get bristle worms and other nasties showing up and it becomes 29 gallons of NOPE. 1 Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
Shhhhh the tank might hear you. 1 Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
Moved the rocks that were in the 14 gallon back to the 14 gallon. Growing hair already. So going to try a black out. Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
Ordered new lighting and going to set up a 1/2 gallon guppy breeder with some macro algae to adsorb the nutrients that algae likes. Kind of like a mini referendum (sp). Ordered a mushroom that I just love. Ill post new pictures when it all gets here. Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
Snagged the picture from http://www.pacificeastaquaculture.com/ My new mushroom well be here soon. 1 Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
I was reading post again. And someone mentioned it is not good to use life rock in your filter. Guess I need to take mine out but if I do there well be nothing but a little dry rock and I would like to run this without a skimmer. I have one but have not been able to make it work right. I could put it in the display but it is smaller pieces and not sure where I would put it. Hmmm Maybe just put some in there to help seed the dry rock and remove it later? Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
running 10 days some of my mushrooms I moved back to the 14 gallon and some of the rica. They just looked unhappy in the 29 and they have algae on them still. The mushrooms that are still in this tank are looking sad. Think it might be the light but can not figure out what the best setting would be to make them happy again. Quote Link to comment
Proudgeek
What light did you upgrade to? What water testing do you do? Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
I got a SuperLux it has a dimmer and timers. Love the idea but just not getting it right I don't think. I need to wait a few days before I try to adjust it again. The dimmers, The early morning/evening light is set at 5. The day light is at hmmm I think 30? Ill have to check. I test ammonia, ph, nitrates and nitrites. So far nothing extremely wrong. 5 gallon water changes as needed two so far.. I think at this point (just 10 Days) the tank is to clean. But everything is alive so that is good. And the ones i moved are loving the older tank. Quote Link to comment

Is this it?https://www.reefbreeders.com/shop/superlux/ This is quite a change from the stock BC lights. 30 may be too bright. You need to acclimate the corals to the led. Set up a period of 8-10 hrs with a peak of no more than 25% for 4 hours and see how they respond. I do suspect your issue may have to do with your water chemistry though. With regards to the water testing, what do you mean with "nothing extremely wrong"? If the tank is cycled, ammonia and nitrite should not be an issue. What water are you using? Nutri sea water? That should have decent calcium (450) and magnesium (1350) levels and you don't seem to have a lot of corals. Those are the test results I got some time back when I tried it. You should test for salinity, PO4, Ca, Mg, pH, and KH moving forward. On the algae issue, do you feel comfortable moving your coral to new frag plugs? I assume that is what has algae. Have you tried pulling them one by one and scrubbing the plugs? 1 Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
Thanks Ill adjust the lighting. I mean nothing is so bad off I fear for the life of my corals or fish. Ill take some water up to the fish store next week to test that other stuff. The mushrooms I took out had jumped off their frags and are on rocks. Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
The adjustments were perfect. Mushrooms are looking much better. Thank you. 1 Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
After much thought I put in a couple springs of grape caulerpa, fern caulerpa and one other one. Yes I know I well have to keep it under control with lots of trimming but would rather trim something pretty then fight with GHA. 1 Quote Link to comment

Good call, They are not that difficult to yank out and trash but they will do an incredible job fighting GHA for nutrients. Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
I chickened out so took it back out. I have some cheato in a fish net hanging over the side of the tank till I can find a better way to put it in the tank. My luck it well die and the GHA will take over the tan. Quote Link to comment
Pinner Reef
Things are looking good! What is the CUC stock in there? Mexican Turbo might help with those frags that have GHA. Quote Link to comment
