LongDoggy
Thanks long doggy, do you think the hair algae and diatoms will be too much for my CUC when I get it? No man. Just add the CUC, do your WC and give it time my friend. All will be well. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Good to know. CUC supposed cone thursday Quote Link to comment
SeventyTimes7
When my tank was finished cycling there was so much hair algae on the rocks. I watched 3 astrea Snails destroy it in 3 days. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Good to know. I will be placing my CUC on the hair algae rock when I get it. Hopefully they annihilate it. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Updated FTS still nothing to look and hair algae growth 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
The algae has actually reached about 2 and a half inches long. Not even a trim? (I'm a total algae hater, unless it's good macro or coralline, neither yet) Quote Link to comment
LongDoggy
A little pruning may help. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Yay! How far should I trim it back? Quote Link to comment
LongDoggy
Yay! How far should I trim it back? As much as you can. Also keep up on water changes and make sure you don't leave old filter floss/sponges in there. You want to try and remove the nutrient collectors (algae) and also remove the producers (old water & dirty components). 1 Quote Link to comment
LongDoggy
I should have added, it may take time. I dealt with GHA for about 6 months. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Ok thanks. I intend to scrub the rock tonight of it. Hopefully that helps Quote Link to comment
basser1
Take the rock out and spray it with hydrogen peroxide and be done with it. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I don't think I can with out taking apart part of the scape. I epoxied them together. I scrubbed the rock though and this is what it looks like now. Only a few small patches remaining that I missed. Also, here's the CUC. (What petland could get of it). More will be added soon Quote Link to comment

LongDoggy
You've got the right idea. You can scrub the rocks in your tank. Just do a WC afterwards and try to suck/pull our as much of the loose algae as you can. Eventually, it will be defeated. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I used a toothbrush so that the algae could not float away. Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
This is Leonardo my emerald crab and a new FTS (yes, I realize that pretty much nothing has changed). I think I am getting pair of clowns on the weekend 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
My new intank media and fuge came in. Here's how I set it up. Top-poly filter and purigen middle-phosguard bottom-chemipure. Anybody know how often I have to change out the poly filter? Hi 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
The first fish! I also got some chaeto and an unidentified macro. Anyone know what it? It's the third photo. Loads of micro brittles and a couple bristle worms. 1 Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
New FTS(still no differences) and the latest additions. Two blue leg hermits, two trochus, one pep shrimp, 4 zoa frags (zone may not make it) and a frag of GSP 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
My frags place, plus my shrimp 1 Quote Link to comment
Idaho ken
What is that stuff your using to secure your frags to the rock? Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Fluval epoxy. I realize now that glue probably would have been better. The rasta has disappeared from an unknown cause. Right now my blame is on a trochus snail that was seen on the edge of the plug. I think it may have knocked it off. I have an emerald crab but I have seen it walk by the frags without even a second glance multiple times Quote Link to comment
