It was really great! I am looking forward to next year already. I think it worked so well because they did not charge much per booth and the money was donated to the school. RAP and MACNA I think the booths cost so much the small coral merchants cannot afford. 3 hours ago, DaveFason said: Looking great Jonathan. Thanks dude! The light is killing it right now. Running her at 85% at night (0% white/mint) and the colors pop so nicely. Quote Link to comment

I am excited to watch it fill in. I am having some issues with just a few of the zoas placed on the right outer edge. They are not getting enough light or flow. I am going to move them to see if they react better, but trying to think of what I can do to get more flow in the dead spot. 6 Quote Link to comment

Thanks! I have been going a bit crazy lately adding zoas to the tank. I have found 4-5 excellent vendors that I had not known prior to my crash. A lot of new morphs out there recently. In fact, today I picked up 7 new Indonesian zoas from Two Guy Corals - just released. Cannot wait for them to arrive next week! I am very excited the way the tank is progressing. Nearly all zoas are open and the rock work is completely covered in coraline. I am running out of space so I have recently added some smaller islands in the sand bed. The frag tank is starting to fill up again as well! I have found that my zoas are enjoying the below water chemistry. The most important thing for zoas, in my opinion, is consistently. Especially when it comes to Alk and Salinity. Salinity @ 35 ppt Alkalinity @ 7.8 dKH Calcium @ 410 ppm Magnesium @ 1485 ppm PO4 @ 0.13 ppm NO3 @ 21 ppm pH @ 8.3-8.65 Coral Amino / Fuel / Polyp Booster + Sustain (Iodine) + Vitamarin C = every 3 days Reef Roids + Reef Chili + Koral Color + Stronium = once a week Personally, I am stating to believe that fish poop is the best food for zoas. I feed the fish very heavily. I have no algae growth and no cyano in the tank. I noticed that was a trend as well! Growing up as a little kid orange was definitely my favorite color and then as I got older it changed more to blue. I guess my inner child is really showing in this tank! I have tried to blend the colors, but orange is a rather popular color for zoas. I will take some fresh pics tonight. thanks for the compliment! 3 Quote Link to comment

I am having so much fun rebuilding my collection. It is amazing to watch how the various morphs grow at different paces. My Spekkled Kraks have grown 2 polyps in the last month and my Butt Kissers are the same. Those are the most expensive zoa's so I am super excited by that! 10 hours ago, revolution1925 said: Really nice!! Going to wait until the zoas fill in on the rock work to the point that I need to start cutting until I frag. 14 minutes ago, Indiana Reefin said: Well well... NYfishies
Hi all, Quick update on things. The tank for the most part is doing well. I have found myself doing a lot of turkey basting to keep the colonies clean and only today did I think the turn up the MP10! I had it at just 40% and cranked it up to 70-85%. That is about as high as I can go before the waves start crashing out of the tank. I am pretty excited to see how the zoas react and how often I will need to turkey baste. I have been slowly increasing the alkalinity with a goal to maintain between 8-8.5 dKh. Tonight it read at 8.1 dKH and that is with dosing 4 ml spread over 12 hours of each night. I continue to feed very heavy. It seems it does not matter how much Reef Frenzy I feed the fish, they destroy it in less than 2 minutes. I really want to add another fish and have been holding out trying to find a Red Sea Mimic Blenny, but they are incredibly rare. Here are a few quick pics! 3 1 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
Looks awesome! I always find a few spots that benefit from turkey basting no matter how high the MP10's are. Especially zoas. 1 Quote Link to comment

My Utter Chaos colony which sits directly in front of the MP10 clearly needed some turkey basting today. After I posted yesterday I further increased the intensity of the of the points. I think I over did it though because the Utters are not happy today so I lowered the intensity and now am runnin the following. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
How is the zoanthid garden doing these days @NYfishies? Did you go to Reef-a-Palooza this year? Hope you're well! 1 Quote Link to comment

Did you go to Reef-a-Palooza this year? Hope you're well! Hey Chris! Thanks for the post and reminding me how much I miss posting on this forum! The tank is doing great and I did go to RAP this year and it was by far the best yet. Picked up a few rare zoas while I was there. I alterted a few of my practices and became a bit more mature about how I take care of the tank. I started dosing Brightwell’s Alkalin 8.3 and Calcion using the DOS to maintain my dKH, pH and Calcium. I am working to get my dKH to 8, but right now I am having a difficult time as my zoas are multiplying thus requiring more Alk and pH balance. I am being very diligent not to just dose 25 ml of Alkalin 8.3 to get it to that level, but rather using the DOS and slowly bringing it up. I never cared for my Calcium level in this tank because I always looked at the zoas as spineless. Kat gifted me a Katropora that I was afraid to put in my mixed reef due to the pest coral that run the show there so I put it in my frag tank beneath the main zoa display. Eventually the frag died off and it was only then that I realized the tank was in need of Calcium. Now that I keep it at 420-440 ppm the coralline algae seems to be oftertaking some of the oddball things growing on the live rock. Frankly, the zoas seem happier as well so I do not know if they actually consume Calcium or not. I also started dosing Brightwell’s Potassion. Why? Why not? We shall see if it makes a difference in the colors (blue?) Here are some updated pics. Promise to post more when I get back into town next week! 1 2 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Nice to see you @NYfishies, glad to hear RAP was a hit! All the zoanthids look quite happy, that's an interesting find about the calcium levels too. Keep up the good work ☺️ Quote Link to comment
