Nice tank and equipment.

Thanks

You're going to love that light. What do you think of the mount?

Pretty solid mount. Well built, like most EcoTech products. Does not feel cheap at all. wanted something that hid the wires, and this is perfect. It's also adjustable to different widths for wider tanks. Really liking this product.

How are you liking your light? What stand are you using?

Loving the light. I tinker with it pretty frequently. It is very bright and I did get some bleaching on two of my corals, so I had to turn down the intensity quite a bit. The majority of my corals are doing great however. I love the colors, makes my coral really stand out from a far.

I am using an old TV stand that wasn't being utilized. It is very solid and not worries at all about it breaking. I wanted it to be low enough intentionally, since I have two small kids that like to look at the tank.

Sweet thanks so much for the response. Do you get a good shimmer with that light? Like the kessils?

Decent shimmer. The Kessil has better shimmer though. My brother in law has a Kessil and it gives a better shimmer effect. The Ecotech has better spread and more color variations than the Kessil.

What lenses are you using on the light?

I am using the wide angle TIR lenses that come pre-installed with the XR15 pro. It gives a 24X24 inch spread which is perfect for our little tanks. I don't get any light bleeding from the sides. I haven't played around with the standard lenses yet to see if there is a significant difference.

So it looks like I might have an ich vs marine velvet outbreak. I noticed one of my firefish start scratching himself on the sandbed and noticed fine grainy particles around his gills and fins. He seems happy and eating well still. I took him and his female friend out (who is not showing signs yet), as well as my assessor who also has some spots on him, but I did not see it until I took him out since he hides all the time. My clownfish is not showing signs yet. I hava a goby that disappeared, I took out all the rock and he is nowhere to be found. I will try to catch him if I see him when I feed the tank.

These fish were in quarantine before I put them in, but as I said, only two are showing signs currently. I'm thinking it might have come with an invertebrate I put in. I don't usually quarantine those but I learned my lesson the hard way.

The fish are in quarantine and I have started Copper treatment for 2 weeks and leaving them in quarantine for at least 6 weeks. I was going to do the hyposalinity treatment, but I am not sure if this is Velvert or ich, and I figured Copper would kill both.

I hope my fish make it. So far they are still eating. Pretty bummed by all this. This is my first major outbreak.

On a brighter note, my coral is thriving and doing quite well. Photo dump below.

Thanks.

Yes, it really sucks. At least all the fish are still alive. I hope to save at least some, but hopefully all. Sorry about your loss.

The first thing I would do is switch out the return pump. ATO has been great also. Those would be my first 2 upgrades that won't burn your wallet. Then get a good light, powerhead, then skimmer in that order, just my opinion.

Great tank! Your corals are beautiful! How are you setting up your camera to take the heavy blue light pictures?

So sorry to hear about the velvet/ich, that's one of my nightmare scenarios. Hope they all recover :)

It's a custom white balance on a DSLR. Took a picture of the tank with auto white balance and then used that same picture to set a custom white balance. Basically lowers the blues and highlights the other colors.

Fish are in a copper treatment tank and have since lost my Randall's Assessor, and one of my Helfrichi Firefish thus far. I am very upset by this. Fish that are left are; a Randall's Shrimp Goby, the other half of my Helfrichi pair, and a Black Ice Ocellaris. It's not looking promising so far since I'm only into day 2 of treatment. Grrrr.
