michaelrzachmann
thanks bro good to hear from ya Looking good man. Congrats on the 1 year. Your frogspawn and zoas look like they are growing out nicely! Here's a new video i took today. Still nothing has changed much in the recent months, just trying to keep up on minimal maintenance and let things grow out. Dont forget to switch to HD! Link to comment
aquageek
That frogspawn looks great! You've got some nice growth going on. Hopefully I can get the ball rolling in my setup. Damn phosphates have really put a dent on my growth. Link to comment

Damn phosphates have really put a dent on my growth. thanks man... to be honest i have just been trying to make things much simpler the last couple months because life is too busy. I took my gfo and carbon reactors off line, no filter floss, just 25% water changes every one or two weeks, manual top offs, and skimming. I only test my water for salinity before i do a water change to make sure it is 1.025-1.026 and every once in a while throw so calcium in. Cant tell you the last time i tested anything besides salinity but the tank is looking fine and most things are growing so i prob wont buckle down much on the tank while it is lmao Link to comment
aquageek
I hear ya' on the life being too busy part lol. That's cool that you were able to simplify the setup and things are still going great. You took your reactors down and I just set one up lol. I am also terrible at checking parameters. Anything other than PH, Salinity, or Nitrate is just a pain in the ass. Testing for magnesium is the worst lol. Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
Did a water change today and finally got a razorblade and scraped off all of the coraline and green hard algae that i could reach. Tank is looking cleaner than it has in months FTS Right Tank Shot Left Tank Shot Monti starting to take off again Acans that almost fully died off seem to be happy in this spot Hermit making use of all the turbo snails i couldnt keep alive Urchin back packing around some of the algae i scraped off Clowns i have had for over a year doing great and looking healthy Mr shrimp hanging out upside down in his cave Bi-Color blenny chillin in the rocks These blue palys started as just a few polyps and new heads keep showing up. the orange zoas on the other hand have not grown as fast Love not seeing any frag plugs Candy canes These frogs have always been hardy and doing well through everything Link to comment

michaelrzachmann
Went to Reefapalooza today and met the guys from tanked and julian sprung. Was very surprised at how nice and down to earth wayde and brett were. I thought dave from nanobox was supposed to be there? was pretty bumbed about that. Thinking about taking the hood off this tank and throwing a kessil a160we over it. Saw a kessil in person finally the other day at a fishtore and they look amazing Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
Finally bit the bullet and upgraded to a high quality LED. Picked up my kessil a160we with controller and gooseneck. I really agree with the advice of buying the good equiptment first because you will just upgrade to it eventually anyway and waste the junk. So far i love these lights, the shimmer is amazing. I have them peak at 65 percent during the day hopefully that is not to much to start. top down Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
Two days with the light so far and i really love it. The color blending and shimmer are amazing, the colors are really popping, and the amount of light at only 50% peak is pretty insane over my nano i hope it isnt too much to start. My one and only complaint is that it doesnt have much of a moon setting as it only goes down to 5% at the lowest and it is still pretty bright at 5%. Heres a video, it is a little blue but its less blue and person and i would rather enjoy the color in person most as opposed to the video. Enjoy Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
wish i had read more about aquascaping before setting up my first tank... possible total rescape coming soon. wish me and the inhabitants luck Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
Well done:)... Thanks dude. Went through with the total rescape today. As expected im not totally happy with it and the corals certainly are not, trying to grlue them all back down was a complete bitch. As long as they all survive ill be happy with it and i at least (from what i can see holy shit there was a lot of detritus trapped around the tank) am happier with the scape than the one i had before but i hope i dont get a bad cycle, the biggest piece of rock is new and only two pieces left over from the old scape still in the tank. I can also now reach all sides of the glass to clean so thats something i was going for too. Only time will tell hope to put up some good pictures soon Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
Well the detritus fog has finally cleared. After an hour of trying to find a scape i ended with this. Its simple and i atleast like it better than i had before, lots of open swimming space but i dont like it as much as i thought i would have (i hear this happen a lot on here lol). These small biocubes seem hard to really scape nice. Anyways, the corals are still pissed off and i lost a chunks of zoas, hopefully after everything opens up more and the zoa garden fills in i will like it better. Feel free to criticize. Here's a few pics of the new scape and pissed off corals. Link to comment
Sk8n Reefer
Wow- total rescape is right- I like how the anenome is lower in the tank . Did you remove some rock too? Link to comment

Did you remove some rock too? yah i removed a lot of rock, so im nervous of recycling but i plan to do more frequent water changes the next two weeks incase to try and combat that. I really like the minimalist type scapes i see on here and before it was pretty much just stocked with rocks i kept adding Link to comment
michaelrzachmann
So far i can't say enough about this light, it looks leagues better than what i had before. Best thing i ever bought for this tank. Day two after rescape now that everything is opening up and less pissed off i am liking the scape much better... since i love photo heavy threads... more pics! Will post video later tonight Updated FTS Potential Zoa Garden Link to comment
