pismo_reefer
Cool, thanks man. And, yea.... I like a bit of red in mah tanks. ----- The tank is just cruising along. The Pod population has EXPLODED since dosing the PhytoPlex. They are covering the inside glass. So many, in fact, that the larger ones kick the smaller ones off the glass. Doomed to float in the current, until they finally hit something solid. I honestly couldn't figure out why my water had white specks in it... Then, I realized they were pod babies. They're freakin' everywhere! I havent cleaned the glass in (2) weeks.... The copopods do it for me. The rock is kept spotless, between the Astraea's and the Amphipod's... I think its about time for a Porcelein Crab. Link to comment
Reefkid88
Man,I need to get a different type of snail or something. Mine are constantly just sucked up on yeti shells at the water line. While everything is starting to collect algae. But my glass is clean due to the ENORMOUS population of pods I have too. Are your snails varacious cleaners ? I have put a drop of Phols Xtra in my tank in over a week, and I'm still accumulating brown algae on the the bottom of my tank and a few tiny spots on the glass, meh. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
My Astraea's only sleep for ~3hrs a day. The rest of the time is spent cleaning. Link to comment
Reefkid88
I love Astraea's. A lot of people consider them pests, but I've had a few in my tanks and they never bothered anything. I know my local Petco just gives them away lol. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
To be clear, I mean Astraea snails, not Asterina stars. ------- Dont get me wrong.... They are definitely lumbering oaf's.... Like bulls in a freaking china shop. Better have everything glued down tight! And, then there's the top-of-the-glass base jumping. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
Haven't even changed the water, yet... My water be wet, yo! Link to comment
Reefkid88
I had a feeling,I didn't think you had stars but I went with it lol. Damn, that water is clear yo Link to comment
pismo_reefer
Chemipure Elite makes wet ass water... Just picked up some PE Mysis, and 5g of NSW. Gonna do a 50% change this week, after I feed the Mysis. I'm trying get my water a little "dirty" nitrate-wise, for LPS. Link to comment

I think its about time for a Porcelein Crab. What's the run down of what you're feeding the tank? I know you were talking about a few things but didn't actually see a final list (I may have just missed it). I just ordered BRS Reef Chili but also trying to consider other things to feed in addition to mysis for the LPS. I had a lot of pods until I added the Hector's Goby....I can't say I've actually seen him eating them but he's fat and I don't feed him. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
PE Mysis, PhytoPlex, LPS Pellets are what I will be feeding. Gonna try that Pohls Xtra, too... I've only been feeding PhytoPlex, but I've fed (2) drops every other day. Just picked up the 'Piscine Energetics - Mysis", today. I've only ever fed PE brand Mysis to my tanks. It seems to be the cleanest, read: phosphate free, Mysis. I'm gonna pick up some of those LPS Pellets, that everyones raving about. As soon as I procure more Acans. The reason for my pod explosion, is the natural cycle of micro-fauna. They'll thin out in a few days, giving way to another glass-walker. Link to comment
Reefkid88
If I didn't have so much surface agitation,I'd be able to have some awesome top down shots lol. Has your pod population slimmed down ? Mines still in fu*king full force lol. I had a patch of algae on the glass and there was a massive amount of them munching on it. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
I told this idiot to stop diving off the glass. I guess, I don't speak snail too well. Welp.... I guess they found breakfast. Link to comment

pismo_reefer
Forgot to post these, the other day.... Unfiltered image of my Astraea. MARIA!!! WTF are these called!??? The mouths are green, and the "iris" is metallic blue.... It just doesnt show on my camera. The reds are a bit blown out, in this FTS. -------------------------------- Feeding time... Nom Nom Nom My lights are turned down to 50% power, here. But, you can see the difference between the red's in last fts shot, and here. The color is all wrong here.... But, I like it. Mysis hits the water and it's, "BUMBLEBEE ACTIVATE!!!! Snowing food.... I should add, that half of the dots, in the water column, are actually various pods. They eat voraciously, even resorting to eating eachother. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
Also... I love the "no test" method. Just simple, routine water changes. The damn tank inhabitants well tell you all you need to know, in a pico. Link to comment
