Ahanix
I jumped back into the hobby with a 34g Solana and have loved every minute of it, but was missing the swimming room and room for coral placement. I was able to find a Fusion 30 In stock at AquaCave, quickly placed an order and it will be delivered tomorrow 4/16 Tomorrow I will be transferring everything over and setting up the system. Looking for any feedback and help as the tank progresses over the next few months. Ahanix
Started this morning off with the stand build, there were a lot more pieces than I thought there would be. Overall I'm super happy with the quality of the stand and the instructions. The stand went together easily and has JUST enough room to hold 5.5 gallon tanks in the bottom. Going to be running my ATO in the bottom left, and a SW mixing station in the right. Pictures to come after I get all the wiring cleaned up tomorrow. Tank was shipped by Aquacave. Extremely impressed with how they packaged the tank, I had people coming over to look at my house since it is up for sale, so I had to hulk grab it and placed it on the tank without other help, was kind of scary - I don't recommend. Glass quality of the tank is great, honestly all this is, is a 30g SR tank. Pump looks high quality also Since I am running an AI Hydra FiftyTwo on this tank, and also since I am moving, I don't have the option of ceiling mounting the light. I already had the EXT rail from when this was over my Solana, so I had to improvise. I used a piece of Aluminum from Home Depot and bent it to the best of my ability, It's not the neatest work, but I don't think it looks bad either. After everything was tested out, I painted it black since it stands out pretty bad. Hung about 12-14" AWL, spread is perfect and even with the light at 30% I feel comfortable with AI's recommendations. Tank is still super cloudy, will rescape tomorrow and take better photos. Tank rescaped, trying to decide how much I love the rockwork Link to comment
Ahanix
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm going to rescape everything tonight and hopefully not stir the tank up again, everything was pretty clear this morning The only thing I need to figure out now is if I actually need the MP10. The return pump pushes a ton of flow out and seems to have good coverage over everything. I guess I'll read all the other fusion threads and see what everyone else is doing. Hopefully I'll have a reactor and skimmer in next week, waiting to sell my Solana so my wife doesn't kill me on spending more money.. Link to comment
endy0430
Definitely get the an MP10 or some other kind of pump for inside circulation. I upgraded my main pump on my Nuvo30 and have an MP10 on reef crest and the flow is amazing, your corals will appreciated it. Link to comment

Yeah, I already have an MP10 hooked up to the tank, I was just surprised by how much flow the tank was getting from the return because of how shallow the tank was. Guess I will just watch the tank for the next few days and see how it looks. Link to comment

Bobyboy
Looking good, IMO the MP10 is worth it, as the does have dead spaces in the corners and behind the rocks. Link to comment

Thanks a lot, I definitely decided to keep the MP10 since I have noticed a huge benefit from having it, honestly I am now looking at getting another down the road. (need to get a reactor still since I will be running EcoBak Plus) and I'm thinking about getting an Apex, but I guess I'll see if I can foot the bill for one, not really sure if I actually need one. Steensj2004
Man your tank is nice! Love the scape! How do you like that light? I have heard really good things about those new AI lights! Link to comment
Ahanix
Thanks a lot man, I really like the light and honestly couldn't ask for more. I kind of wish AI had a better way of mounting the light long ways, but I don't really notice the bracket I made anymore. I have it at about 30% right now on average and everything is growing great - I will probably turn it up after I'm confident the corals have acclimated better. Link to comment
Ahanix
Bought a couple new additions last night, still need to get a better camera so I don't keep getting feedback. Link to comment
Ahanix
Well tonight I found out I must have at least a little bit of luck. First I left an LFS with a Psychalelic Mandarin that was eating frozen at the store and got home and that's when the fun started. I smelled a weird smell in my house and walked around looking for it. Then I turned off my aquarium stuff and turned it back on, my Cobalt Neotherm cracked and started smoking. I hurry and shut off everything and ripped it out of my tank (my safety over the inhabitants..) I then drained all the water out of the back chambers and left my wife to acclimate the mandarin to the display. I ended up buying a titanium heater from my regular LFS and got it all hooked up and did a 10g water change 40% roughly, also added cuprisorb just in case. Everything is going great but I will be keeping an eye on the tank and calling cobalt Monday. Link to comment
Spiderguardnano
wow thats crazy any idea how it cracked? Link to comment
Ahanix
I found a thread on reefcentral saying there was a small batch of heaters that had issues with leaking epoxy from the heater. Almost all the pictures I saw cracked in the same place mine did and it smelled like hell. I had to open all my windows and the smell is stuck on my hands still. Link to comment
Cameron6796
Great fish choices i love flame angels... As you can see by my pic. Hope he/she doesn't eat corals on you. Good luck I'll be here following Link to comment
Ahanix
Thanks a lot. The LFS I purchased it from had them shipped from Vanuatu and he said he's had a lot of luck with them in his clients tanks Link to comment
Steensj2004
I know NeoTherm are killer heaters but I love my titanium heater a lot. They heat so well, paired with my controller it is awesome. Link to comment

Yeah, I am definitely sold on Titanium heaters now. The ViaAqua was the only one I was able to find in such a rush but it has pretty good reviews, I will definitely be purchasing an Apex after my tuition reimbursement hits my account. Nice little reward for pushing high grades this semester Link to comment
