That blue life resonator is super cool !

I'm liking it so far! Its still running very well and my tank looks super clean. None of the corals have seemed shocked from the media change.

I know who :)

Yeah, you're not allowed to guess

What's in your tiki mug Felicia?

We were kind of sharing both of them. One was called a "Zombie" and had rum, lime, grapefruit, cinnamon, and some things I'm forgetting. The other was a "Batida", which had cachaca, passion fruit, and coconut milk.

Looks good Felicia! I saw those Blue Life filters at MACNA too and definitely thought they looked like a step in the right direction. I don't know how anyone didnt do it before. That's how it goes!

I know! It seemed like such a simple improvement over the current reactors on the market. I definitely think its a good improvement in design.

I'm guessing you're hanging out w/ Islandoftiki since you're in a tiki bar and his hand is always in the tank w/ lovely Betty.

Nice guess, but no. :)

Here's a photo from dinner last night. Went to a super cool restaurant that is actually a houseboat that was converted into a floating island and is anchored off of Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco. The top looks like an island with sand beaches, a dock, a waterfall, and a lighthouse with amazing views of the city. The dining room is down below, so its actually below the water level. There are portholes and you can see fish swimming by as you eat. Its all decorated like a ship from the 1700's. To get to the island, you get picked up from the pier on a little ferry boat. Super cool place!

Check out this awesome present I got! Its a 3rd Edition copy of Charles Darwin's "Coral Reefs" printed in 1897. I love antique books, so its so amazing to have an antique book by a famous scientist about coral reefs. :D

Hey Felicia,

Like the new avatar. Was that taken on SF bay?

Are you going to Reef Palooza in October?

David

Thanks, David! Yes, that was taken on the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito. I'm not planning to go to RAP since I just spent money to go to MACNA and I already have a trip to Vegas planned in October. Were you going to go?

WOW, that is a cool present! Love the maps in the book too.

Yea, I figured you might not go since you went to MACNA. I will probably go Saturday, October 25.

Hey, if you win big in Vegas then you can come to Reef Palooza and buy some goodies?!

I'm thrilled to have gotten it. It was such a thoughtful and fun gift. I'm going to start reading a little bit of it each evening before bed.

Yeah, maybe if I hit it big in Vegas I'll think about going. I'm not entirely ruling it out, but just not planning on going at this point. October is a very hectic month for me and MACNA was plenty of reef conference for a while!

Went to dinner at a restaurant called Forbe's Island in San Francisco that is a houseboat that was converted into a floating island. Its anchored off of Pier 39 and you ride a little ferry boat to get to it. The top level looks like an island with sand beaches, palm trees, and a lighthouse. Underneath is the dining room, which is below water level. There are portholes so that you can see fish swimming by as you dine.

Yeah, it was a silly freak accident with the powerhead. Frustrating, but at least the new wrasse is settling in well. I sure hope the leopard is just hiding for a while. Time will tell though :) Thanks! I am going to change it up! The seahorse tank is coming down and I'm going to start a ~25 gallon coldwater tank. I loved talking to the Coldwater Marine Aquatics guys at MACNA and I want to do a Monterey Bay biotope tank like what I see here diving.

That will be amazing! Looking forward to it! Temperate tanks are almost mystical--they're so foreign that it's easy to be in awe. Too bad otters don't fit well. ;-) Was it flatworms -- time input -- something else w/seahorses? I'm starting my BBS hatching for current fish to see if it's something I'd keep up with for a pipefish. Soon to include pods too. I imagine their bio load/o2 consumption is very small once the right foods are in play.

What a thoughtful gift, plus a yellow rose. :-)

Oh your pics of the place look amazing, love the look of the place. But now, you talked about weight before.....I don't see what it is you're needing to lose. I've never met you in person but I think you look fabulous. Nice curves everywhere, what's there not to like? But I know we each have our own things we see in the mirror so I kinda understand.

Hey, I just talked to an old friend who said he'll send me some dive equipment. He asked me why I don't get a license because I was just posting so much to his Facebook as he just did extensive diving in Thailand, money is one of them, to just be able to go somewhere.

I've wanted a temperate tank since I started my first reef tank, since where I dive most often is temperate. I'd rather have a seal than an otter, so cute! haha!

The seahorse tank has just become an issue for a lot of reasons. One issue is the flatworms, but its also a very high maintenance tank. The seahorses need to be fed twice a day, which was fine for me, but I'm planning to travel a bit more in the near future, so its always a pain getting someone to tank sit. On top of all that, I really hate the AIO set-up. After having a sump on the main tank, I just realize what a pain it is to get to the equipment in the back chambers and keep it all clean. From what I hear from Josh and Stu, coldwater is supposed to be much less maintenance than a tropical reef tank. I want something I can leave for a few days without stress. Plus with two tanks, if they're both high maintenance it isn't fun anymore. I need to work load between the two tanks to be more manageable so its still fun.

Its the most thoughtful gift I've gotten in a long time. It was beautifully wrapped too. Super sweet
