Dr.Brain Coral
Cool. How big do the purple urchins get? Quote Link to comment

AquaticEngineer
Funky music for a funky tank Lol, indeed It was just too boring with no music and its a well known fact that purple urchins love the funk Cool. How big do the purple urchins get? They can get baseball size, but I doubt they would grow to that size from smaller specimens. Way cool! I love the time lapse video. I look forward to following along. Thanks I'm going to try and shoot a timelapse like that at least once a month from now on out, or anytime I get something neat to put in there. 2 Quote Link to comment
AquaticEngineer
Added some coldwater sps to the tank, its a Pink Encrusting Hydrocoral (Stylantheca spp) Gonna see how it does with daily spot feedings of Calanus zooplankton and ocean nutrition coral food and see if I can mark visible growth. Got urchins and snails to keep it algae free. Quote Link to comment
AquaticEngineer
Yup, one of the only coldwtater LPS corals, the Oval Cup Coral (Paracyathus stearnsi) and I was able to find and collect 4 of them! Amazed to find these guys while diving yesterday, found them in the most unlikely of spots and wish I had more time and air to look for more. They were red with iridescent green tentacles when I spotted them, totally thought they were a small moonglow anemone until I looked closer and touched it. Still waiting for them to fully open up, but here's a shot of one of them starting to puff back up. Heres a googled image of one wide open that they looked like: 1 Quote Link to comment
AquaticEngineer
Well I eventually sold pretty much all of the Anemones from the previous video, so the tank looked a little barren. I decided to change it up a bit and do something I hadn't kept in a very long time Bay Pipefish! Here's a link to a video of them eating tigriopus californicus cultured from wild caught copepods here in Oregon https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152713467221056&l=3580218606613491371 1 Quote Link to comment
Dryland
Those are neat, how many did you add? Also, do you have any pictures of the oval cups you collected? Quote Link to comment
