That looks good! If anything, I would angle the left island a little bit, so that the right end is either pointing more towards the back wall, or towards the front. It'll probably help add depth vs. the wall with a hole in it look if both islands line up perfectly

Got some new RODI filters this week, along with my bulkheads and uni-seals from BRS! Went out today and picked up plumbing stuff. I sketched out my layout and did a "mock-up" of the plumbing (haven't cut the PVC yet). I improvised when I got to Lowes since they had true union valves. The only thing I'm thinking of removing after putting it together is the ball valve. The true union valve on the right will lead to a manifold in a little while. What do you guys think?

Don't have a sump so don't really know anything about this. Good that you've planned it out ahead of time, I'm sure someone will chime in and let you know if something isn't right

I would suggest you put a union right over your pump so you can service it easily without having to take half of the pluming off and then unscrewing it. Just a thought.

I was a busy boy this morning. I did decide to go with a Herbie overflow, I hear a lot of stories of people eventually switching over so I figured to it right the first time. Everything fits pretty snug. I have yet to glue it together, figured I'd get some opinions first. The only thing I will be changing is cutting the 3/4" PVC leading to the True Union Valve for the manifold a little shorter. I'm trying to decide if I should face the manifold towards the drain/skimmer or towards the other side of the stand where the empty space is. For now I just plan on having my Apex and ATO over on the right side.

I'm waiting on a gate valve to be delivered to finish everything up. I couldn't find one locally, or out of town for that matter, so now I play the waiting game to glue.

I am also upgrading my Apex JR to Apex Lite. It'll allow for more expansion than the JR and I really want to set up multiple float switches in the tank and sump to prevent any overflowing.

Progress for the sake of progress...

I ordered a few more things this week (float switches, test kits, wireless adapter for Apex and prazipro) that will be here next week. I bought 400g worth of salt this weekend, should hold me over for a few months. Plugged up my WP25s while doing my leak test and these things create some flow!! Lastly I drilled my rock and got it pieced together! Now the fun [waiting] begins.

I think I need to raise the emergency drain a little more to quiet it down a tad more.

The tank is in place and ready for water. I made one screen top yesterday but miss wrote down the amount of frame I need so yet again I need to run to Home Depot.

I cleaned my garage out to clear space for a WC station and started making my first batch of RODI water. I picked up a 32g Brute can. I changed my RODI filters out also. Lastly I got my order from amazon with the float switches, prazipro, test kits and wireless adapter. I just need my power adapter for my apex lite, suppose to be here Monday, then I can start programming.

I only have 40lbs of sand right now, I'm thinking I might need another bag. I'll add it right before I start adding water to the tank, so most likely tomorrow evening after I mix it up.

Well I got my tank completely filled this weekend. Everything was looking great, but I noticed a small leak from the threads in the bulkhead adapter. I unscrewed it and now I have a broken bulkhead. I'm guessing I screwed the adapter in too much. The best part is that I'm traveling all week this week, won't be back till Friday. So Saturday I'll be hunting down some slip x thread bulkheads, yay!!

I've done a few tests on the tank, been traveling the last two weeks so that makes things hard.

11/20- NO2=0.1 NO3=2-5 NH3/NH4=0 temp=81 sg=1.026

11/25- NO2=0.1 NO3=5-10 NH3/NH4=0 temp=79 sg=1.026

Seems like the cycle is coming to a close soon. I haven't had any diatoms on the rock that I can tell, I'm not running any lights now.

In the mean time here's a crappy iPhone pic

Tomorrow will be the big day! Nitrates have been holding steady and everything else at 0. I did a 20g waterchange, about 20% total water volume, last night and I'm preping for the move tomorrow morning. I may move some corals over this evening so tomorrow is just fish and a few other corals. I need to do a peroxide dip/rinse on some zoas that have GHA.

What do you guys recommend for the CUC in the current tank? Try and dig out snails or start with a fresh CUC? My melanarus wrasse picks off a lot of smaller snails but I see some nassarius snails every once in a while. I was thinking of doing a smaller package from reefcleaners since they end up sending soooooooo many.

I'm going to try to set up a QT tank this weekend. I'm prolly going to pick up a new clown, Picasso preferably or a snowflake and some sort of wrasse. I'm looking for a nice flasher or two. I'll add a fairy or two after I have a few flashers.

Its been a busy few weeks since I transferred my corals and fish. Traveled M-Th both weeks and I'm finally in over the holidays.

This week I came out to a GHA outbreak. I'm assuming it's just normal new tank syndrome. I don't have much of a CuC yet, just a few snails and a lone hermit crab from my old tank. I was going to order from Reef Cleaners but they're not shipping till the 30th.

I'm mixing up some water right now to do a 20g WC. I'm going to try Reef Crystals out for a little bit since a lot of people here use it and seem to like it a lot.

I also got around to cleaning up my mess under my stand with wires. Everything was kind of just thrown in there so I zip tied a lot of stuff and got it out of the way.

It looks like I'm going to be shopping for a new skimmer. I like the SRO 2000int, it's pulling crud out already but it's just so large. It's a PITA to change my filter socks, which I've been doing about once a week. I'm not sure what I'm going to get but it's gotta have a smaller footprint than this guy. Still doing my research.

Last little update is I had about 1/2-3/4 a gallon of RODI spillage. I hear a little noise and ran over to see a little puddle. My ATO line got moved and dumped the water in the stand which in turn leaked onto the hardwood floor. I got it up pretty quick thankfully. Looks like I'll be getting the Apex leak detection module and sensor now.

I'm thinking of using the Kessil on my 25g Mr. Aqua that I've had for like 3 years empty lol My wife really wants a flame angel and I told her I will not risk it in my tank so I may do softies in the cube.
