MikeTR
Well I do fill it to about 1/4" from the rim and refill when it's about 3/4". About every 3rd day Link to comment
FlowerMama
On my Evolve 8, even w/ the lid on I was topping off a little before work and when I went to bed. That's normal. You don't want big fluctuations in a small tank. You might just want to draw a line on the back left side to where you like it filled. 24 hrs later the next day see what the salinity is, and 48 hrs later too. Just to see what's going on. MikeTR
I never test params on this tank. Truthfully twice since day 1. (Don't try this at home kids) Link to comment

MikeTR
Tank crashed while away. I've been dosing fw exit weekly at more than the recommended dosage to wipe the bastards out for good so I had done the usual water change and added fresh carbon so not really sure what happened. Tank was low on water. Someone neglected to top it off so that might have been the catalyst for the crash. Just a little perturbed about that. Might have to fire the tank sitter. The hammer coral is the only thing that looks to be unrecoverable, but I have more of it in my 180g. Blue cloves also took a big hit, but they'll be back. The rest looks pissed but should recover with time. Did almost a 100% water change to get things back on track and stuff was opened up a little more last night. Time will tell. Link to comment
MikeTR
Things are looking up. LPS is meh and the blue cloves got completely wiped out, but I haven't seen any flatworms in a while. Otherwise, everything else is opening per norm. Clown is a little lost without his hammer. He still hangs out in the skeleton. Gonna have frag some from my big tank and get him somethin to swim in. In other news.. I'm gonna have to shut this tank down by the end of the year.. or bring it to work with me. I might just bring it to work. Link to comment
markalot
Sorry to hear about the crash. Do you have a frag tank for the 180, or was this your only other tank? Link to comment
MikeTR
Sorry to hear about the crash. Do you have a frag tank for the 180, or was this your only other tank? I used to have a frag tank, but moved everything to the 180 when it was ready. Tanks not lookin half bad now. FlowerMama
I would say it's about 4-5". It does look pretty similar. How do yours stay put in the sand? You put them on the sand and they'll put their foot down on the bottom, some within the hours, others took me several days to a week, that's unusual & I'm thinking that had to be water quality or something at the time. Those that were originally put on the sand, relax onto it faster than those I originally took off a rock and then put them on the sand. I'm going to have to look in my frag tool kit and find a blunt one so I can slowly pry off several. Once you get like half off, the rest kinda peels off gently. Link to comment
MikeTR
Tanks pretty much recovered completely after the mini crash in July. Even one head on the hammer has pulled through. My clownfish is happy about it and forever faithful to it. Link to comment
