iPhone
I bought 2 Ora ultra maxima clams 2 days ago and they seem to have lost a lot of mantle extension. I'd say they are 1.5-2" All my levels are fine and I acclimated for 1.5 hours. Could this be because of stress,LFS owner had them in his tank 2 hours after the shipment arrived. I have 2 Maximas and 1 crocea that have been with me For 2 years no problems...I'm hoping this is just stress. Oh and If it makes a difference,I fed some phyto to the clams today First pic is at the store I got the first one on the second row and the one before last on the first row. And here they are when I was acclimating them. And this is what they've been like most of today Link to comment

Also what lighting were they under at the dealer and what lighting are you using? Could be stress or acclimation but Zeph who is the expert may have some more advice for you. Link to comment
jedimasterben
They're probably just pissed because they've been passed through such differing water conditions in a short amount of time. I'd say it's pretty normal. Both my squamosa and crocea took about a week of full mantle exentsion to completely closed up before they started staying open all the time (even at night). ZephNYC
Yea...they need more time for sure. The best thing you can do for maximas under 3 inches in to keep your nitrates at 2 ppm. Time and time again we have seen small maximas starve and retract after 2 months of zero nitrates. Link to comment
