spunkyfunk Posted April 23, 2004 Share Posted April 23, 2004 i bought a cleaner clam at a store and they said it helps remove the gunk in the tank. i couldnt find anything anywhere about these clams but they areny the maxima clams they are just a pale white color, i paid 6bucks for it and i was wondering about what it does Link to comment
Aiptasia Posted April 23, 2004 Share Posted April 23, 2004 What all clams do, filter the water for bacteria, single celled algaes and dissolved matter. The only thing the clam will "clean" is the water, by polishing it for you. In fact, you'll need to feed it to keep it alive if it's a non-photosynthetic clam. Clams can live on a diet of phytoplankton and marine snow. Link to comment
