can anyone verify if they took back a model other than those originally listed to petsmart and did they take them back as well. mine are both 150's and i would rather not waste the trip . I plan on getting replacements online but i can always use the gift-card for dog food or something else

/\ I have a 150w that I bought a couple weeks ago too that's i'm wondering about. I also have a 100w visitherm that i use now for my water change bucket. I bought the stealth because the visitherm looked kinda janky and didn't seem to keep temp consistent.

I was having a hell of a time getting it to the correct temp I wanted; 1 click didn't seem to translate to 1 degree

You don't use the dial on a heater to set a temperature, they just are not accurate enough and really not designed to be. You use your thermometer to tell you where to set the dial.

Folks,

I bought a Marineland 50 watt for my new biocube 14g. With the recall Im looking to return the unit. I see Petsmart sells the Aqueon Pro brand. I also know a LFS sells the Eheim -Jager units. The ones I saw there had an external sticketr on the carton which read "now fully submersible" This sticker seemed like an after thought. Any ever see this external sticker? Is it old stock with an updated sticker?

Question--Eheim or Aqueon?

Which model? I see Jager has a "TS" model?

Also--Is "EBO" just part of the company name or a model heater from Eheim-Jager?

Thanks!!

I dont know about the sticker but the box has it written that it is submersible. The older, non-submersible model also looks a bit different. The new model has a red, black and blue top. It also says on the heater Totalement Submersible. The older models used to say ebo jager as well.

i'd rather go to petco since it's 8645132 times closer to me.

so my stealth pro is not totally underwater. the top part with the indicator light and temp dial are above water completely. in fact, the seem where the top and bottom pieces of plastic meet, is above water. basically it is submerged to its minimal level. i dont see how it could ever leak, or be leaked into. i had two of the original stealths crap out on me ( they were undersized slightly for my volume) and i really like this one.

Took back two heaters yesterday. Said I paid cash... They couldn't find the UPC/Bar code with a price so the manager just asked me how much I paid.. I said "24.99 to 29.99, I really don't remember" ... She replied with: "ok, well I'll give you 24.99 for each of them." Pretty much shrugged and said ok. Next thing, she hands me 56.xx in cash. Sweet.

Took mine back. They had the UPC code for it already (guess they've been getting a lot of em at petsmart). Exchanged it for the Aqueon Pro 100W. Not the best heater, but its small enough to fit in my BC8 so I can't complain. Even got an extra $1.66 back since the Aqueon was on sale :) No hassle, no receipt needed.

I got mine today and it had the sticker as well.

That box looks like the older model that was not marketed to be submersed. I wonder if it was submersible the whole time.

Dear ,

We're contacting you with important news about your Marineland Stealth PRO Heater. Marineland is investigating quality issues involving the Stealth PRO Submersible Heater line, and out of an abundance of caution, they have stopped selling 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 watt models. If you have questions about this stop sale or to return these heaters under your Marineland warrantees, please call Marineland Customer Service at 800-338-4896.

Please stop using it immediately and take the following steps:

1. Unplug the heater from the wall to stop the flow of electricity

2. Let the heater cool for 15 minutes

3. Remove the heater from the tank

As a valued customer, your satisfaction is our priority and we would like to offer a replacement or refund for the heater you purchased from us.

Our team of Aquatic Specialists recommends the Marineland Visi-Therm Heaters or Fluval M Submersible Heaters as appropriate substitutes

Please contact Foster & Smith Aquatics Customer Service at 1-800-443-1160 at your earliest convenience to arrange the proper return and exchange/refund of your Marineland Stealth PRO Submersible Heater.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please let us help you continue to enjoy your favorite hobby for many years to come!

Not sure if this has come up yet but I can confirm that Petsmart in Canada is also dealing with the Recall. You can take em with or without receipt to any Canadian Petsmart and they give moneyback no questions asked!

The Stealth style heaters are currently under quality review and we have placed a stop sale on them. We have two options to offer you. We can either replace your heater with a new Visi-therm Deluxe, glass style heater of equal quality and wattage, or we can refund your money for the heater. In either case, we would like to send a call tag to pick up the heater, at no charge to you. If you prefer to receive a refund, please provide us either with a receipt for your heater or a printout from your store or online retailer regarding what it would cost you to replace the heater, and we will refund the cost. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have any questions, please let me know or call 1-800-338-4896.

Sincerely,

I returned a 250 to Petsmart the other night, no receipt, no questions asked. Got a giftcard for $43.xx.

I also have a return shipping label sitting my inbox so I can send a 300 back to Foster & Smith. They gave me the choice between a regular Marineland Visi-therm or a Fluval. I went with the fluval, I've had two regular glass visi-therms explode on me. F*&% having that happen again. I had actually just ordered a new Jager from the Doctors about 8 hours before I got the recall email.

Customer service from both Petsmart and the Doc's was perfect.

I might give UPG a shout since I have a couple other Stealths that I don't remember where I purchased them.

Aqueon heaters are garbage. Get the Eheim Jagar.

The Ebo Jagar heaters have been around for over 20 years. They are pretty much the best of the best imo. A few years ago Eheim, who also makes very high quality products, bought the company that makes the Ebo Jagar heater. So now it is called the Eheim Jagar, but it is the exact same heater.

The reason you see a sticker on the boxes is just to advertise that they are now approved in the USA for full submersion. They were approved in Europe a long time ago and people everywhere have been submerging them forever, but now it is officially approved to be used that way in the USA.

I'm not sure if it is a new model or if they put stickers on old stock, but either way you'll be fine. Tens of thousands of people have been submerging these heaters for years even before they were officially approved in the US with out any problems.

So they will replace the just Stealth models? Will petsmarts handle the replacement of the stealths or just the stealth pros?

I have two ETP-200's, and am wondering what to do with them.....
