freddy4130
So I picked up a small (3.5") clam from an LFS yesterday. I did not see the keeper take him off the rock but he said he was "pretty stuck." I asked if it pulling him off was going to damage him and the keeper said no. But the clam is not attaching to anything and was laying on his side when I got home today. His foot looks shredded and limp. Will he heal or die? Should I go ahead and email the guy about it or what? Link to comment
basser1
The clam should grow new byssal threads. It's sort of like our finger nails, when we cut them, they grow back. Just give it time. Link to comment
freddy4130
Word. He should be fine as long as he is responding to light and movement yeah? He is BTW. Link to comment
BobbyL1212
if he had torn the clam off the rock to which the clam left the thread BEHIND. Then he's a goner no doubt. However, if the clam still has it (which he does) you should be in business. Link to comment
freddy4130
Cool. Looks like he still has the thread. I'm sure of it. Link to comment
