atlweb
There is some aiptasia growing on the side of my maxima clam. Do you think a peppermint shrimp would be able to get that sucker out? Link to comment
poidog
if you can take the clam out, scrap it off the shell with a razor and/or rub it off with a towel. Link to comment
atlweb
Is it really bad to take the clam out of the water for a minute? I could probably get him off the rock, but I don't want to damage his leg. Link to comment
poidog
No, it's not bad to take them out. When you put them back in the water just turn him around to "burp" him to get any air bubbles out. If it's attached to a large rock, that you can't take out, I would not attempt to remove the clam. Try a pep shrimp of those aptasia eating nudi's. Don't use any chemical killers or kalk because it is too close to the clam. If it ingests any of that stuff it's a quick death. Link to comment
StevieT
Most corals can be taken out of water. The last clam I purchased came with some aiptasia on it's shell. I took a small wire brush used to clean out protein skimmers. Scrubbed the crap out of the shell then put the clam in the tank. Link to comment
