jdokos
Hi, I just bought a new blue maxima clam (small under 2"), and I stupidly did not check it's underside for health before I brought it home. Well, I think it may not have it's foot. It won't attach and I don't see any byssal threads or anything. What does a footless clam look like? I have a gold maxima that attached immediately and has doubled in size in 6 months or so. Thanks, Link to comment
douglam
when clams close up sometimes it is hard to see there foot as it is pulled into the shell. atleast that is how one of my maxima's is. Link to comment
phases
Is it possible it was ripped off? I have heard partial foots can regrow but I'm not sure if thats true. Link to comment

A few weeks back my class had jumped ship off its rock (think it got knocked off) and left most of its foot(which looked like it was ripped off) on the rock. After placing him on another rock he adhered in a few days and is super happy on his new spot. Link to comment
