Squamosa Clam, Do I meed skimmer?

As topic say, Do I need protein skimmer for all types of clam? I searched it only require low light while the other types don't. I am placing it bottom and some coral block some MH light, will it be good forever?

i wouldn't say its a necessity. some people even say that if you have enough clams and other filter feeders, they can replace skimmers.

depends on the color of the clam as well, a blue clam needs a lot of light when others dont. they do need a lot of calcium as well. I really dont think a skimmer is a need as long as ur doing weekly 10% water changes. I do 20% bi weekly cuzz im lazy.

a blue clam needing more light than others isn't always true. there have been blue clams found in depths not typical to the species.
