So I've been somewhat ignoring my ADA 60-f the past few months. I've been keeping up with maintenance and all, but just haven't added much coral wise... I love the tank but just wanted something bigger. So in the next few weeks (maybe longer who knows lol) I'll be putting together a Marineland 65G. I'm excited to get a new build going, and will try to update the progress as much as possible. Thanks for checking it out B)

So I started by trying to save myself some money on this build lol. So I decided to try and build my own stand, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it's probably a little overkill but... I don't care lol.

Now I just need to cover it and put the doors on it and stain/paint not sure what i'll do just yet, but I think it came out decent

I'm going to leave the back open for easy access to the sump if I need to pull it out.

And surprisingly it came out level lol, don't ask how!

Cool- looks like you got all the proper tools for building. Good size tank- what are your stocking plans?

Thanks, and yea it's all my grandfather's tools. It's like a playground for woodworking haha. As for stocking I want a good variety of fish hence why I went with the skimmer I did, but for corals I want to focus on sps since my last tank didn't have any. It will still have a nice variety of Euphyillia though since it's my favorite, but I definitely want to learn more about caring for sps since it's new to me.

As for my stand, I got some more work done today on it...Getting closer, I put the tops on the top and bottom of the stand and made a cutout for the overflow pipes.

Glad to see someone else using the DB 34g, im really happy with mine. Looks like your stand will be there for the ages. Over sized skimmer for the win, I'm loo king forward to seeing this one.

I'd look into the sicce 3.0 for your return

I'd double think the razor. Had one and hated it honestly

I had the 27 inch one over 36 inch tank and coverage sucked. Can't imagine smaller.

Thanks man, I'm excited to get it going I love the size of this tank, and yea that stands not going anywhere fast haha. Thanks for the pump suggestion, I was literally getting ready to go to your thread to see what pump you were using when I read your comment haha.

I like the razer, I've been using it over my other tank, but yea I'm not sure size wise how its going to do... I'll upgrade later If I have too but it will do for now.

Icic. I just can't stand how the razors colors all look mute. I couldn't believe how vibrant colors were when I compared ati t5 setup and razor over same tank.

Nice! Careful - SPS can be addicting?. Looking forward to seeing what you do?

Nice carpenter skills! This sounds like it's going to be another nice build.

Haha thanks, I didn't know I had it in me lol! I hope so, trying to take it slow!

Maybe I just don't know any better haha I like the look though, However, the new Lfs that opened up across the street from my job has a 60 gallon cube running t5's and I love the natural sunlight look it gave off so I might be looking into something like that in the future.

Haha that's what I'm afraid of!

Led and t5 and get best of both worlds ;)

Does your lfs or somewhere have tank in stock. I know when got mine that model was kind of hard to get.

They don't have it currently, but he said he could order it. He told me it take a week to get it once I ordered so it must not be that hard to get ahold of them now? Who know's lol

So I got the skimmer in today and this thing is awesome, I never thought I'd call a box sexy lol. So now I have a skimmer with no tank...or sump haha. Hopefully I can order the tank next week! I'll keep ya posted.

Also let me know if anything looks off with how I put together the skimmer, it seemed pretty self explanatory but this is my first skimmer soo...haha

What about the deep blue 57? 21 high. Or get a mr Aqua and drill with glass holes kit

I looked at both and really liked the deepblue 57RR, price is the only factor holding me back from that, I'm a college student haha

At my lfs the 57 is less than 100 more than the 34. Or you could search for a used one. Oceanic also made 57 rimless. I had one and liked it a lot. At times I do wish my tank was taller.

I'll look into that, I just think about my shallow tank now which is really low at 7 1/2" but the 12 is only 4 1/2" taller so I don't want to have to bend over to look in the tank if i'm not sitting. But get this, I just went to my LFS to get some price quotes on other tanks and I can get a Marineland 65 gallon reef ready for the same price as the 34 deep blue... Houston we have an upgrade, lol

Did the same thing. Quality at a good price, worth it. Even the box is high quality, one could make a nightstand out if it, [hyperbole on]heavier duty than Ikea [hyperbole off]. Shame to dispose of...

Something ozone, maybe?

the box is sitting at the bottom of my bed with aquarium stuff on it now, so technically I guess it is a nightstand haha.

And I have no idea I'll figure it out when I get running, hopefully it's just something extra/not needed.
