Well I just made the jump back into saltwater with a used RSM 130. The wife and I reorganized the living room and made a nice little spot for it. I have it just holding regular tap water tonight to make sure the take is all good and all the pumps work correctly. There seem to be a lot of air bubbles in the pumps at the moment. I'll post a little more about plans for the tank tomorrow. It's been a long evening of moving furniture.

I heard that if you put tubing onto the back of the pumps, to force it to withdraw water from the bottom of the chamber, it helps keep air bubbles out of the display.

@Angel ... If you are planning on buying a new 130 then wait a little bit and check around. The new 130c are coming out now. They have updated parts including a better skimmer. Thought I would throw that out there in case you didn't know.

It's a really cool tank set up. Perfect size for me and for what I paid I dont mind modding it to improve lighting a little (not that It needs much) and a new skimmer.

Upgrade the pump. RSM is offering a free pump. Go to their website.

I bought it used..... will they still replace them since I'm not the registered owner?

Thanks so much for your awesome build thread to! Its been a lot of help in planning this tank.

Lol.....From what I have heard about there customer service I dont think I have to much to worry about. I have all the time in the world to get the pumps to as I'll be waiting a good while for the dry rock to cycle.

Let the cycling begin.... The water is in and I'll post better pics once it's cleared up a little. I have some filter floss in the back to help catch the suspended stuff after letting the take settle for 6 hours and I just turned the pumps on.

Here is a pic from about 30 min after filling it up.

Just tell them you lived in a place with no internet for a year and that they should have mercy.

Well they took pity on me! new pumps on the way.

Ok so I have a Cobalt Aquatics heater on the way well and have redone the aqua-scape. I just see many dead spots in the tank. Short of a MP-10 what would you all recommend to create some random flow?

Did they say it shipped? I got an email saying I would get one December 11th, but nothing since then.

They've probably put me on a $#!t list because I've been whining about their Phosphate Pro test kit.

Look around for a Jebao WP-10. They're pretty new, but will be widely available soon. MP10s are nice if you can find them cheap, but they aren't necessary. A Hydor Koralia is a good cheap option too.

While you can, test different configurations of your rockscape. Since the lights are in the center of the tank, they leave a lot of shade on the rocks. If you can arrange it so they angle towards the back you'll have a lot of space to mount coral with a gradual increase in light towards the top.

They did say it shipped but I have no tracking. I will post once I get it. I would call and ask about it. Heather I is the girl I talked with Iblieave... may have been Hanna... I'm not good with names untill I can put a face to them.

Thanks for the tip. I have been looking at the MP10's buy worry about it being a new product. The scape I was playing with last night has a little tilt backwards. All the rocks in front of it, for the most part, have full light. I'll post a pic tonight when I get home.

The MP10 looks like a great way to go or a Koralia and then pick up a ReefAngel to control them. That way I get the benefits of both the wavemaker and the controler... Thoughts?

I've got a Reef Angel and really like it, but it has some limitations. If you don't mind banging your head against a programing problem every once in awhile you'll like it.

Make sure there's enough memory to control the pumps and manage anything else you want in the future. You may want to get the Plus model with more memory.

Browse the RA forums to see what it can do, and what people are having trouble with. There's usually someone around who can fix your code.

First test results with the Red Sea Master Test Kit.... I think NH3 NO2 and NO3 are all ok but I'm worried i screwed up the PH and KH tests. Do the number suggest any thing to you all?

I love the idea of the Reef Angel and I'm not worried about the programing but I want to make sure I'm spending the money in the right places up front.
