My Ricordea

Still about the same size as when I got it a couple months ago. What do I need for it to grow bigger and divide? My LFS suggested Kent Iodine and Coral Vital- Is this good advice or just more snake oil they're trying to sell me?

the latest ive heard is that iodine is a sham altogether, despite how your xenia will react to it....in my opinion kent's coral vite is crap too. If you're doing your weekly water changes your salt will give you your important stuff. For your mushrooms to grow use DT's phytoplankton and feed them a small peice of shrimp once a week. The shrimp works with my fuzzy mushrooms, im only assuming it will with your ricordea. good luck

Yeah that's what I'm starting to think too. I'll probably give it a couple more weeks then discontinue. I haven't seen any dramatic improvement. My two tiny fragments of plate coral have started showing growth after I started adding Tropic Marin Calcium though. My Goniopora Flowerpot is my main barometer for water quality. I've noticed it's happiest right after a water change- especially if it's Catalina Water. It also reacts favorably to Tropic Marin but not quite to the same extent. It definately does NOT like the Oceanic water. I'm going to try dosing Iron and Manganese for the Goniopora after reading this http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/dec2002/invert.htm I suspect that it probably senses these elements in the water change and extends fully, then after it sucks my tank dry of them (or some unknown element?) over the course of a week it starts to retract.
