My 1500.00 12 gal reef

Actually I stopped counting my costs after my wife started keeping track for me :)

This is month 4 of my little drop of paradise. I haven't posted anything till now because my poor little reef doesn't look nearly as good as some others

Specs are

12 gal flat back hex.

CPR Bak Pak 2 skimmer

Pacific Coast CL-280 chiller

32w 10K + 32w actinic for a total of 64 watts PC

water is a mix of Catalina natural seawater and Tropic Marin

Livestock are 1 clownfish, 1 Catalina Goby and 1 Neon Goby. 6 small assorted hermits and 5 assorted snails. I do a 20% water change (about 2 gallons) once a week. I just started dosing 1 scoop of Tropic Marin Calcium every other day, 1 drop of iodine and 5 drops Coral Vital per day. Not sure if it's helping but hasn't seemed to hurt.

Thanks but it's definately still nowhere near what I'd like it to be. Problem is I spent all my money on equipment and didn't have any left for livestock :( Just as well really since now it's one tiny addition every 2 weeks. Gives the tank plenty of time to adjust.
