tinyreef Posted October 30, 2008 sorry, clown, i thought you were asking about the word. i've been talking about those little blue dots of flesh underneath the mantle just inside the shell/flesh membrane. when i first got the clam, they were a dull purple all the time. then the other weekend i saw a glint of fluorescing on the right side fleshy growths/uvula. the picture above shows both sides now colored up. diatom/smedge, i considered something more appropriate to 'clams' but felt the mods would not tolerate it even here in the photo-gallery. @_@! tinyreef Posted October 30, 2008 not sure if they can change color (they do appear as different tones/hues depending on angle of light) but they can recover and lose colors. usually (ime), the those changes are induced from stress (from various reasons). the polyps/uvulas/thingys here were always a bland color and in every clam i've seen those areas were just normally bland. (better clam people could offer more experience though, e.g. ezcomp or barry) it just caught my eye when i saw them fluoresce in a spot i didn't expect. Quote Link to comment
