the tank gets about 4-hours of direct sunlight, about 9AM to 1PM. i had just moved it up a foot closer to the window to get more light versus the summer.

 

the way the house and window are configured it gets indirect sunlight the rest of the time (about 6~8 hours depending on the season). i.e. a bay window would probably get more sunlight time and a different house structure layout would add even more time (sunlight).
