It is 13 months old. Never cleaned it since after the coralline grew over it was going to be a PIA

I'd have to agree that it's because your water isn't wet enough.

Mine looks the same when I clean it.....just the way they are. One of the reasons I just ordered a tunze nanostream. It's not from overfeeding, they just act like traps to anything and everything and overtime it builds up.

oh yeah, and the new one is frickin awesome! I should have done it sooner. This thing got clogged up fast after I started feeding differently, letting it run while the food was flying around to the corals. I suppose I should clean the new one more often, but we'll see if that ever gets done.

I clean mine about once a month, but yeah, mine looks nasty, right now I need to clean it, it's got filterfloss and macro suock to it. With a nice assortment of algae growing on it.

You feed too much.....and if you want a second opinion, you dress funny too.....

I clean mine every 2 months. It never has looked that bad. Clearly i am doing something wrong. Maybe i need more fish. Perhaps a tang or 2.
