haha, did you buy it with all that macro algae on it? Its the green stuff that you're talking about right?

Yeah i got it with some of it. Now it’s like jungle out there. I am actually referring to everything on that rock. Green jungle, orange sponge looking thing, there are other numerous things.

wow, that is a crazy rock!! If you don't like it start picking!!!! FYI: algae needs ligth to grow, so if you pick it all off, turn your lights off for a while, like days, let it die. It looks like you are still cycling by the looks of your tank and how clean it is!

I am only concerned because i want to add some corals, would the green/orange growth hurt anything?

I’ve had it for 15 days. How long is the normal cycle?

If you all think i should get rid of it, do you think it would be easier just take that rock back to my LFS? And get a new one? I am really scared to touch it. It’s ALIVE!

a normal cycle is 3-6 weeks. I wouldn't add any corals just yet. If you don't want to mess with the removal then yes, take it back and exchange. THat just looks like a mess. Yet, no it shouldn't hurt your corals, it will just compete for space and the macro algae is a faster grower and will win the turf battle.

Don't take this personal, but I would kill to have some of my LR with that micro algae on it. Regardless your tank looks nice.

That was calurpa (sp?). Anyway, I hope you were not dumping the stuff down the drain or anything as it goes back to the stream and really agitate our rivers. They take over the rivers and have been known to know out wildlife with their growth. You could have broken it up and put it in a sump. They are nitrate inhibitors.

Looks like you ended up getting quite a bit more rock this time. I like this arrangement better...but who cares what I like:) As long as you're happy with how it looks. It took me like 3 days and about a combined 5-6 hours for me to get my aquascape the way I wanted it. I'll have to post some pics...then people can tell me how crappy it looks...lol.

But I'm not changing it anymore! :)

Thanks, i rearranged my tank like 4 times. I am done. I like it how it is. Its a pyramid shape. Provides a nice cave for my skunk and a damsel.
