Crakeur's Caulerpa Tank and some other critters too

Thanks man, I'll keep them in mind. Considering how much my snails reproduce, I may wait and see how the 2 slugs I have do. I may end up with a bunch. If not, it is good to know someone is selling them, I am really getting sick of the generic snails that are always either getting killed by the hermits or just getting stuck upsidedown and dyeing.

the only downside to the sea hares is that they get large. real large.

I had one that hitchhiked on something in my old 60 gallon and this thing was as big as my hand by the time I got rid of the tank. my wife would see it on the glass and scream. man that sounded awful. put 'em on the glass comes to mind.

liquid-

I believe that is a Stomatella Varia. There kinda like a cross between a slug and a snail as they move fast, have that weird shell and reproduce quickly! I had 3 a few months back..now over a dozen! At night I can see a whole bunch on the glass and I have a bunch of babies in my fug too. They clean up micro algae better than any other snail IMO.

You don't have to tell me how good they clean. That patch I was talking about, it is now 2 patches since one "lawn mowed" through it. It ate its width by a half inch long in about 30 seconds. They are great little critters.

Nice tank. i'm so jealous of the aquascaping you people can accomplish.

I have a few of those Stomatella snails that hitchhiked off a mushroom rock. They seem to be nocturnal creatures like what Deskjockey said. I'm so glad that i've got them and hope that they multiple in my tank. Fight the algae!!!

lmao, my aquascaping was actually a nobrainer as my tank has three large rocks and that is one of two ways that they fit. the other way results in more toppling than this way. Now, the one large rock on the left just shakes a bit when I mess around in the tank.

thanks for the vote of approval tho. My scaping is nothing compared to some of the true masterpieces in this section.

I hope I read this right...........

You can get green star polyps to grow up glass??

I have some that are growing like weeds across my sand, as well as covering quite a few rocks.

I would really like to do this.

So .......you just glue a patch to your glass, and they take off from there ???

I know i will have problems gettng them on the glass........what is the trick ??

Thanks

Remember when I said the only place with algae was the fro on the snails back? Well the hermit found it and is having a meal.

Actually, I just looked up and he is gone, so the fro lives on. I took a picture anyway since I have never really saw this crab eat anything and actually ended up walking away from the snail so I guess he doesn't like algae that much (worthless).

great shot liquid. I love catching critters in some kind of action. A while back I watched two hermits wrestle for a shell. One hermit was forced out of his shell and they went at it for about 15 minutes before the aggressor realized that the shell wasn't to it's liking.

I know, if the camara wasn't digital, I would go broke in film.:D About five minutes after the above picture, I tried to catch a shot of those 2 Stomatella Varia slug dudes mating but this is as close as they got (Like they actually would have "done it" anyway).

thank god you didn't catch them in the act. Chris frowns on porn being posted (rightfully so), even if it is slug porn.

I got my slugs from Deskjockey and have seen them on the rock, on the glass and on the sand. I have yet to see them eating algae but I'm sure they are. I also haven't seen them getting it on but I also haven't been playing my Barry White records as much since the baby was born.

Hey man you have to bust out the Barry White records!! Well I was playing Al Green so maybe you should try that =)

Im suprised they havent attacked the caulerpa yet??? The next time you see them on the sand pick him up and place him on a nice patch. If they dont eat it then somethings off....it is caulerpa right?
