S.Harper
December 1st started a new tank, I’m going to catch-up the journal a little at a time! To start my Rock and sand where in tank prior to the scape cycling for a month or maybe little longer. After the scape I’ll be adding copepods, a fish or two each week and corals pretty quickly. It’s going to be almost an insta tank. P.S. if your new to the hobby then don’t try this at home. Tank: Fiji Cube 20 Gallon Peninsula AIO Nano Filtration: Fiji Cube Media Basket heater: cobalt aquatics neo-therm 100w heater (best heater brand and type for a nano) Water Flow: upgraded to sicce return pump hygger Mini wavemaker set to 40% with a few different wave patterns through the day and night Sand: CaribSea Fiji Pink live Sand Rock: Real Reef Soulutions - Mini Reef Box Reef-Ready Rock Mix (The best rock I have ever used!) Aquascape: Prior Journal: Quote Link to comment
S.Harper
This tank will be all LPS corals. With that said Lighting is an AI Prime running at only about 40%. It is a little higher then what BRS recommended in their AI Prime light test but there is a reason for that. I have a glass lid which I’m speculating will reduce the par some. lighting Schedule: Quote Link to comment
S.Harper
Custom order glass top which will be a key to my tanks success. reduces evaporation and keeps in the fish! Quote Link to comment
S.Harper
Livestock added week 1: Tailspot Blenny EcoPods from Algeabarn added clean up crew 5x Trochus Snails 10x dwarf blue leg hermit crab 1x fighting conch With the pods added I started dosing Oceanmagik manually every day. I always add copepods to the tank first thing after the cycle to help with diatoms. Quote Link to comment

S.Harper
Week 3: Added royal gramma from another tank that I was holding it in. that will be my full fish stocking. I might even take one out. That is just going to depend on how my nitrate and phosphate. Added coral: 2x blastos candy cane/trumpet coral Water changes- done every week 10% or one big scope from a 1 gallon pitcher. Super simple! Change filter floss at the same time started getting diatoms either week 2 or 3 Quote Link to comment
S.Harper
Week 4: Dosing Started dosing all-for-Reef manually. It seems that 2.5mg will add about .3 dkh. Still not ready to setup automatic dosing. once I added the copepods I start dosing phytoplankton 2.5mg once daily when I feed. also I dose 2 drops of coral amino since I added the corals once daily before feeding. diatoms are basically all gone now, I think the copepods help a lot personally. Normally you won’t see them on the glass until the diatoms are gone then you can really see how many are in your tank. They will start going after the algea on the glass. Quote Link to comment
S.Harper
1 Month Tank Pictures: (sorry I didn’t take pictures each week) All the corals are doing good besides two. I received them not doing great, but they seem to be hanging in there. One Lord and the Goni I’m already seeing growth, torches look to be splitting, candy cane as well. The corals seem to be taking up .1 dkh daily. some of the corals still aren’t glued down but they will be later this week. I wanted to make sure they would be happy in the spot I placed them. Yeah, they are generally thought of as easy to keep and great for beginners. I like them. Also they aren’t that expensive and you normally get a few heads. Quote Link to comment
ZTW
I've been thinking about getting some of those. Nice set up! Quote Link to comment
