schgr.cube
I have been looking everywhere for a pair of these together, and either can't find BOTH in stock together, or can't find them close enough to Maryland that I really feel comfortable shipping them. I am always weary of buying fish online, so can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere that I can actually get these guys? None of my local fish shops consistently carry either (if at all), and are unwilling to order for me. Hi-Fin Red Banded Goby is also known as Blackray Shrimp Goby or Yellow Rose Goby and the Candy Cane Pistol Shrimp is known as a Randalls Pistol Shrimp. Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
empresto
I've had a candycane pistol in my tank for 4+ years now, and it has paired with 3 different high-fin red banded gobies in that time (I had a bonded pair of high-fins paired with the shrimp for about 2 yrs, they were cool). Personally, I wouldn't worry about getting them already paired up, just introduce them together, or if you can't get them at the same time, the pistol would be my first addition. They'll do the rest. Good luck! 1 Quote Link to comment

Good luck! Ah okay, good look! I know Reef Cleaners stocks the pistols, so maybe I'll just do that when I order some other stuff, and buy the Goby separately. I owned a pair like a decade ago, but have always heard you should buy them paired whenever possible... Quote Link to comment
NoOneLikesADryTang
I would second what Empresto said, they will find each other and pair quickly. I actually once got to see my yasha goby introduce herself to the candy cane pistol. It was really cool to witness her gently flutter above him, and rubbing on the pistol to let it know that she was there. 1 Quote Link to comment
