What is this I assume soft coral?

This came in on some chaeto I got earlier. The chaeto was just in a bag without water for about 40 minutes, will the coral survive?

Discosoma mushroom, they're practically bullet proof.

You could do both, whatever you prefer! They grow very fast, so if you want it on a rock, place it on an individual piece and sort of make an 'island' in the sand. If you place it on the main rock work it'll probably take over and be difficult to remove. But if you like it, go for it! They are easy to keep and beautiful, but be aware that they grow fast.

They tend to go where they want, not unlike anemones.  They also seem to gravitate to SPS frags.  

 

Some of us regret ever adding them to our systems – "bulletproof" is an understatement.

I moved it to a rock on Saturday and then today noticed this thing growing on the underside of it. What is it?

Looks like a little fan worm/ feather duster, i have one on one of my snails

it looks like a foot, trying to find a hold on the rock so it can keep growing
