Filefish

Chaetodermis_penicilligerus.402_-_Aquarium_Finisterrae.jpg

Filefish do well in captivity, and make good candidates for a fish only with live rock (FOWLR) tank, as they are prone to nip at coral.  Provide plenty of live rock, but with ample space to swim.  Their diet should include a variety of mysis shrimp, squid, scallop, krill soaked and frozen marine algae. They should be fed at least three times per day.

Mimic Saddle Puffer (Paraluterus prionurus) a.k.a. Mimic Filefish

Max Size: 4.5"

Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons

Care level: Moderate

Temperament: Peaceful

Reef Compatible: With Caution

Origin: Indo-Pacific

Species Notes: The Mimic Filefish looks like a Valentini Puffer (which is poisonous when eaten by other fish).  By mimicking these puffers, most predators will leave them alone.
